New immunization required for students this fall

CANTON — The Canton City Health Department is reminding parents of children entering seventh grade this fall of a new school requirement for immunizations.

Effective with the 2010-2011 school year and each year thereafter, one dose of Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria and acellular pertussis, adolescent and adult formulation) or Td (tetanus and diphtheria, adult formulation) vaccine will be required prior to entry into the seventh grade. The dose is intended to be administered as a booster dose for students who have completed the required doses of the initial series of DTaP/DT/Td vaccine.

The requirement has been made due to the increase of pertussis, "whooping cough," cases in the adolescent population. Whooping cough is a highly contagious respiratory tract infection marked by a severe hacking cough, followed by a high-pitched intake of breath.

Parents should call their children's pediatrician or local health department to schedule an appointment to receive the vaccine.

Parents in Canton should stand up to this and say "NO".  There is no Law that says they have to get these so-called vaccines.

just so you know, whooping cough is not just hitting kids, it is also becoming epidemic in adults all over the US.

And, as we just learned last week, all of our family should get a "whooping cough" shot to protect the new baby coming in October from our son and daughter-in-law.  They have received their shots and we will probably get ours soon.  This is on the recommedation of the their doctor.

Thats all well and good but trying to for e people to get these shots is just wrong.  Not only that but isn't it possible that "vaccines" are actually the problem?  Instead of allowing our bodies natural processes to bulid up immunites to certain dieases we are causing these bugs to mutate into more harmful dieases.

I think this is a good idea - I had DPT shots and boosters through my school years, and I still had whooping cough.  Our family doctor said it was not a total prevention; but that I ended up with a much lighter case of it.  I can tell you I wouldn't want to have a full blown case of it the way I felt and coughed.  I was either a junior or senior in high school when I had it.  Yes, that was a few years ago, but still glad that I had some protection from the "real" thing.

Well they can't force ya, there is a waiver that you can get.  Ok, heres how i have viewed it for years.  Never ever give a infant or any child under 3 a vaccine.  Too hard on their bodies.   You shouldn't subject their young growing bodies to this.  Secondly, only give things like DPT and MMR.  While they may not work on everyone, it does work on a majority and those that it doesn't work on are protected through herd protection.

As far as the rest of the vaccines, they aren't necessary.  And questionable.
I know that tenus shot works but you can't get a tetnus anymore without the pertussus vaccine.  They started combigning them.
