Warph, I'm pretty sure there is an 11th type of medicine as well, but I can't recall what it is. ;)

I got a late start getting things planted, so there aren't any ripe peppers or tomatoes yet. But lots of green ones, and lots of blooms. And the flowers are doing great!

If anyone has a surefire way to kill bindweed, I'd be very interested to know it.

Does anyone know the actual measure of rain we got today? My wheelbarrow has several inches of water in it, and I am curious about the official amount.

Hubby and I get all of our news and entertainment from the internet. We haven't watched TV at home since we moved to Howard in 2008.

I planted a start of crape myrtle and 10 strawberry plants this week. The crape myrtle is currently under a bucket for protection, and the strawberries are in pots covered by a wheelbarrow. I've got fingers crossed they survive the freeze. I also have some mixed iris bulbs I need to get in the dirt. I'm holding off on planting any veg, but when I do, there will be red peppers, cukes, and tomatoes.

I'm sorry about your fruit trees and berry bushes, Delbert. I hope you can save some and still get some fruit this year.

I'm aware of the conspiracy theory. I agree there were a lot of holes in the story (and still are), butI don't buy the entire "hoax" argument either. The site is the State of Connecticut web site.

I'm referring specifically to Robert's comment in a different thread, that states:

"WHAT CONSTITUTES AN ASSAULT RIFLE, especially one that was not used in Newtown's school shooting. That as we all know was 2 9mm pistols.---Robert"

I was questioning the "as we all know" ... because I certainly didn't. So I'm asking. :D

Politics / Sandy Hook weapons used

The State of Connecticut web site states that these guns were found inside Sandy Hook Elementary School:

#1. Bushmaster .223 caliber-- model XM15-E2S rifle with high capacity 30 round magazine

#2. Glock 10 mm handgun

#3. Sig-Sauer P226   9mm handgun

The medical examiner stated all fatalities inside the school (with the exception of Lanza, whose autopsy had not yet been conducted at the time of the press conference I saw) were caused by the Bushmaster ("the long gun").

I've seen numerous references made recently that the shootings were committed with the handguns. Has there been an official update or retraction of some kind that I missed?

Larry, I appreciate you posting these every day. I enjoy reading them, especially the birthday lists. Funny though, how no one younger than 60 has a birthday listed...maybe all the noteworthy celebrities were born before 1950. :D Just kidding. Keep up the good work!

I've seen this being promoted on Facebook. It sounds like the towns along 99 are planning some good sales. I'll be going to see what goodies I can find. Fingers crossed for good weather and a good turnout.
