Mr. and Mrs Harry May of Howard observed their Golden Wedding anniversary last Sunday with a family dinner at the home of their daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Lauffer and sons, at the southeast edge of Howard.  In the afternoon a number of old friends and neighbors called to offer congratulations and best wishes.  Refreshments were served from a table centered by a four tiered cake with a bride and groom on top and decorated with the number '50' made in gold, surrounded by white candles in crystal holders, with gold ribbons decorating the dishes and other accessories, flanked by white mums and carnations.  The wedding cake, with coffee, mints and peppernuts, were served to each guest.

Out of town guests included Mr. and Mrs. Harl Bland and Eldridge Butler, Piedmont; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bane, Mrs. Blanche Harrison, Mrs. Irvin Taggart, Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Dickerson, Eureka; Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Vogel, Mr. and Mrs. George Branch and daughter, LaDona, Mr. and Mrs. Dale May, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Kling, Wichita; Mr. and Mrs. Allen Ferry and Chas. Ferry, Miami, Oklahoma.

The three daughters of the honored couple, Mrs. Lauffer, Mrs. Dickerson and Miss Lela May were assisted by the four grandsons, the sons of Mr. and Mrs. Lauffer; Terry Lee greeted the guests, Alan and Dwight served and Eldean had charge of the guest book.

Mr. and Mrs. May have been residents of Elk and Greenwood counties most of their lives and their many friends from far and near wish them many more happy years together.
