Nadine Kay Baumgartel was born on January 5, 1955 in Sedan, Kansas to Clarence and Margaret (Nettrouer) Terrell.  She went home to be with the Lord on April 2, 2026.

Nadine grew up on the family farm and dairy in rural Grenola, Kansas.  She graduated from South Elk High School in 1973.  On May 25, 1973, she married the love of her life, Marlin Baumgartel.  They lived and worked on the family farm for a short time before making a home in Howard, Kansas.  In 1975, they welcomed twin sons, Bradley and Brian.  With two small children, Nadine was a homemaker and part-time housekeeper in the community.

When her boys were about to begin school, Nadine went to work as a teller at First National Bank of Howard.  She later became Sr Vice-President and worked there until she retired in 2015.  In retirement, she enjoyed working in her flower beds and just working outside.  She took great pride in their 13-acre property and could almost always be seen out doing something in the yard if the weather was good.

Nadine was also active in the community, serving on the Howard Chamber of Commerce, Benson Museum Board, and was very active at Howard First Baptist Church.  She was a proud and loving wife, mother, Nana, and great-grandmother.
