Ervin L. Davis, age 63, of Longton, Kansas, passed away on July 2, 2025 at Labette Health in Independence, Kansas.  He was born on April 8, 1962 in Wichita, Kansas, the son of Harry E. and Roberta M. (McElroy) Davis.

After high school, Ervin joined the United States Army and served his country proudly.  After receiving his honorable discharge, he went back to school and became a master electrician.  Ervin worked for Lear Jet and Spears Manufacturing until his retirement.

Ervin enjoyed going fishing and hunting and spending time with his dog, Buddy. He was the current Chief of the Longton Volunteer Fire Department, a Mason with the Carson Lodge #132 of Elk City, Kansas, Shriners, and a member of the VFW Post #1186 in Independence, Kansas and the Carter-Rader American Legion Post #0149 in Howard, Kansas.  He also was a blacksmith and enjoyed forging knives.  A friend to many, he would help anyone who would ask him.

On January 23, 1995, Ervin married Teresa B. Martinez, and she survives at their home.  Other survivors include his sons, Luke Davis and companion Erica of Emporia, Kansas and John Davis of Emporia, Kansas; siblings, Sharon (Kevin) Hazelwood of Wichita, Kansas, Jackie Baty of Sedan, Kansa, and Olivia Taylor of Wichita, Kansas; and his mother, Roberta Davis-Taylor of Longton, Kansas.  He was preceded in death by his father, Harry; a sister, Anna Crocker, and stepfather, Alvin Taylor.

Cremation has been requested.  The family will be having a Celebration of Life service on Saturday, July 12, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the Longton Christian Community Church in Longton, Kansas with inurnment to follow at Longton Cemetery.  Memorials have been suggested to the Longton Fire Department and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home.  Online condolences may be left at www.countrysidefh.com.  Services are under the direction of Countryside Funeral Home, 420 S. 20th Street, Fredonia, Kansas 66736.
