Calvin Wayne Johnson, age 83, of rural Eureka, Kansas, passed away April 27, 2024 at the Eureka Nursing Center.  He was born February 10, 1941 in rural Fall River, Kansas, the son of Albert and Julia (Benson) Johnson. 

Calvin was a graduate of Severy High School, Class of 1958.  He then graduated from auctioneer school in Mason City, Iowa in the fall of 1958.  He joined the Kansas Army National Guard in January 1964 to serve his country.  On December 1, 1961, he was united in marriage to Glenda June Glover in Fredonia, Kansas.  They made their home on a ranch southeast of Eureka.

Calvin and his brother, Louis, had an auction business, Johnson Brothers, Auctioneers.  He started auctioning at the Eureka Livestock Barn at 17 years of age and continued auctioning there for 50 years.  Calvin auctioned at numerous sale barns over the years and retired in 2016 from the auction business.  He enjoyed working with his cattle and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Glenda of the home; daughter, Connie (Mark) Nichols of rural Eureka, Kansas; son, Clinton (Angie) Johnson of El Dorado, Kansas; grandchildren, Jason (Ashley) Nichols of rural Eureka, Kansas, Charlie Ann (Arthur) Rodriquez of Salina, Kansas, Cierra Johnson of Wichita, Kansas, and Korbin Johnson of El Dorado, Kansas; great-grandchildren, Wyatt "John Henry" Nichols and Amelia and Olivia Rodriquez; brothers, Louis Johnson and Carl Johnson, both of Severy, Kansas; sister, Evelyn Benest; and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother-in-law, and one sister-in-law.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at South Lawn Cemetery in Severy, Kansas.  Memorial contributions are suggested to the Severy Senior Center and can be mailed to or left with the funeral home.  Countryside Funeral Home, 206 E. Washington, Howard, Kansas 67349 has been entrusted with arrangements.
