The kids came and got their fire prevention awards and had great fun at the fire station. Lots of smiles and photos and tours of the engine bays.
I heard recently from an old Kansas/forum friend. Kermit the frog...AKA Michael. Some of you will remember him,a very intellegent and funny man. He's living near the Delaware River about 50 miles north of Philly...not too far from me! He's not in the best of health, but still putters around and spends time on the internet. I suspect most of you are getting ready for Thanksgiving. We are doing a lunch/dinner thing at the fire house with deep fried turkeys and a bunch of us are bringing the rest. Newark PD, on duty fire and Ems and Paramedics are invited and the VFW also,lots of fun expected.
My Doc is pleased that my Psoriasis is better. Not completely gone, but greatly improved.Enjoy the rest of the weekend. We have a big cold front coming in later tonight with dropping temps. and high winds.

Sadly, our worst fears have been realized. Ardy Hope, the third severely injured firefighter from the Wilmington fire on Sept.24 lost her fight yesterday. She was a sweet and tough cookie who had been a fire fighter for many years and was soon to retire. Now we start again to honor her and send her to rest with the others.

Woo... is it cold here! That vortex came sweeping through and the birds have put on their long johns! We got a touch of snow with bit more predicted.
We did have the fire house kids party last Saturday...I think it may have been the best ever. I have asked that someone else take over the kids 5 craft tables next year. I'll still help of course, but we need some new blood. My little bit of shopping is finished and I'm slowly working my way through my Christmas card list. Hope everyone is in good spirits for the holidays.

One more fun thing finished.The Chief's open house was held Wednesday night with a large number of happy people from many fire companies pigging out on good food and fellowship. I made my usual 40 pounds of big stuffed mushrooms with my usual sausage and cheeses inside. This year it made 10 extra large pizza pans....Baked at 350 for 20 minutes. I couldn't believe how fast they disappeared. Once again I wore my "Tobina made" apron with the mushrooms on it.I love it! Hopefully you have all your shopping done and are ready to have fun across the long weekend. Merry Christmas once again.
It's a shame the forum has died or been killed off. There was a time when, during this time of year, there would be happy visits back and forth and the nasty stuff would take a break... but no more. Very sad.

I had a nice birthday yesterday...even got a shout from the forum.That was very nice. Had to cancel our credit card, numbers were stolen and used to buy several plane tickets.

So now  I' ll brag for real. Our Newark Charter School has once again been named a Blue Ribbon School! Yay! We are so proud of those kids.
I'm sitting here waiting for a bit more snow. Fortunately, we won't see any of that awful ice storm. It's going across south of us. I feel so bad for the people who have had to deal with that mess.
Our new credit cards arrived. That's the second time I've been hacked and I can't figure out where from. It was at a merchant, not electronic and I've only used it at a couple of places just before it was used and it never left my sight. Very puzzling and annoying.
