Quinnipiac University economist Mark Gius has published a new study, "An examination of the effects of concealed weapons laws and assault weapons bans on state-level murder rates," in the journal Applied Economics Letters. From the abstract:

The purpose of the present study is to determine the effects of state-level assault weapons bans and concealed weapons laws on state-level murder rates. Using data for the period 1980 to 2009 and controlling for state and year fixed effects, the results of the present study suggest that states with restrictions on the carrying of concealed weapons had higher gun-related murder rates than other states.



It was also found that assault weapons bans did not significantly affect murder rates at the state level. These results suggest that restrictive concealed weapons laws may cause an increase in gun-related murders at the state level. The results of this study are consistent with some prior research in this area, most notably Lott and Mustard (1997).

WASHINGTON, D.C. (FinalCall.com) - The nation's capital has become a tale of several cities, based on race, income and skill set. Once called, "The Chocolate City", D.C. now encompasses a host of disparities and inequalities that were the subject of an emergency mass town hall meeting and public hearing organized by grass roots activists and community groups.

"Dissatisfaction, disillusionment and even desperation is spreading rapidly across the Nation's Capitol. Washington, D.C. is changing; yet not nearly enough debate, dialogue or straight talk has occurred on whether the changes are positive or negative. Black Lawyers for Justice convened the hearing to highlight and raise the alarm bells about the clear and dangerous adverse effects of D.C.'s urban renewal and gentrification scheme," said Attorney Malik Zulu Shabazz.

"The Black population, once 75 percent as recently as 1990, has now plummeted to just 45 percent. Black population removal is a reality and is the ironic underside of the "new and improved Washington D.C.," added Atty. Shabazz, head of Black Lawyers for Justice.

A packed crowd filled Union Temple Baptist Church, which is in the middle of ground-zero for gentrification changes in downtown Anacostia.  A panel of community leaders and activists spoke to the residents' concerns at the Dec. 14 gathering.

"We've got to take an appraisal of ourselves," said student minister Abdul Khadir Muhammad, of Muhammad Mosque No. 4.

"We've let things get out of hand.  We've made room for new neighbors by moving out of the city.  When we left, White people moved in and beautified it," Mr. Muhammad added.

The top issues addressed at the forum included the lack of affordable housing, police abuse and violations of Civil Rights that have dramatically increased while the police force becomes increasingly White.

Other topics included, concerns about the upcoming 2014 elections and how gentrification issues will affect the outcome, the real estate crisis forcing Blacks to lose their homes to foreclosures, tax sales and soaring high prices.

Organizers believe development in the city is favoring the wealthy and multi-millionaire developers who are intentionally violating the best interests of the community by wiping out affordable housing.

Black Contractors are being wiped out and ethnically cleansed from D.C  and have become a besieged minority in their own city they argued.

"We need to consider Muhammad's Economic Blueprint Ending Poverty and Want.  America is on her deathbed.  We need a Torchlight for America.  We live in one city with two realities," Student Minister Muhammad pointed out.

Other issues included concerns about the increasing youth violence and school closures.

Solution-oriented action plans along with the call for unity was brought up by several panelists.

"If we are not united we won't go anywhere.  We are destroying ourselves more so than anyone else," said Ron Moten, former head of the Peaceoholics.  "We want to blame everything on everybody else.  Let's get rid of the jealousy and envy we have.  Let's trust each other and build collaborations.  Why can't we come together and buy some property?" he asked.

Other presenters included Union Temple's Pastor Willie Wilson and Al Malik Farrakhan, head of Cease Fire Don't Smoke the Brothers.  Community testimonials followed giving residents a chance to share their concerns on D.C.'s changing dynamics.

Dr. Francis Cress Welsing, renowned psychiatrist and author spoke on her fight against a Jewish School that opened next to her home and the increasing noise that came with it.

"Black people are complaining about the pain of being pushed out and shoved out of urban centers.  This is taking place in D.C., Baltimore, Chicago and Philadelphia.  I don't know any Black person that is talking about how wonderful gentrification is," said Dr. Welsing. She compared gentrification to apartheid, racism and White supremacy.

Skylar Poindexter Moore of the Public Housing Campaign Empower D.C. said, "We are the forgotten people.  We've had nine public housing properties demolished.  They force us to move out and then create structures we can't qualify for to move back.  Over 10,000 units of pubic housing have been destroyed.  Public housing is all we have left."

Candidates for mayor showed up, including businessman Andy Shallal, the first Muslim to run for D.C. mayor. "I am the only candidate to tackle inequality and race.  We need a living wage.  I would put a moratorium on closing schools.  I want to make sure this city works for everyone.  I want to make sure housing is truly affordable," said Mr. Shallal.

After the forum organizers offered legal rights booklets and foreclosure assistance, bankruptcy and tax sales assistance, help with  other real estate and legal issues, credit repair and consultation and provided mentoring and anti-violence options for youth.

The hearing was co-sponsored by the Black Studies Class of Washington, D.C. and supported by at least 20 grassroots organizations.

Millions of Americans will participate.
American veterans and patriots are energized to end the tyranny, lawlessness, and shredding of the US Constitution.

Government is not the target, it is sound; corrupt and criminal leadership must be removed.
Those in power will not hesitate to use force against unarmed patriots exercising their constitutional rights.
Patriots may be killed, wounded, incarcerated.
There is no hope given today's technology of secrecy for the effort nor do we want it secret.

Concept of Operations:

Phase 1 - Field millions, as many as ten million, patriots who will assemble in a non-violent, physically unarmed (Spiritually/Constitutionally armed), display of unswerving loyalty to the US Constitution and against the incumbent government leadership, in Washington, D.C., with the mission to bring down the existing leadership. Go full-bore, no looking back, steadfast in the mission.

Phase 2 - One million or more of the assembled 10 million must be prepared to stay in D.C. as long as it takes to see Obama, Biden, Reid, McConnell, Boehner, Pelosi, and Attorney General Holder removed from office. The senior republican in the US House of Representatives will become Speaker of the House and the US House of Representatives will elect a temporary President and Vice President of the United States. The U.S. Senate will take action to elect a new majority and minority leader.
As required, the U.S. Congress will execute appropriate legislation to convene new elections or U.S. States will appoint replacements for positions vacated consistent with established constitutional requirements.

Phase 3 – Those with the principles of a West, Cruz, Dr. Ben Carson, Lee, DeMint, Paul, Gov Walker, Sessions, Gowdy, Jordan, Issa, will comprise a tribunal and assume positions of authority to convene investigations, recommend appropriate charges against politicians and government employees to the new U.S. Attorney General appointed by the new President.

We see no reasonable, hopeful sign that indicates there are honorable, loyal, mature, critical thinking, experienced people in government that understands the chaos about to rain down on America, nor do they care....our only hope is that "we the people" call, organize, and draw a few million patriots to stay in D.C. for an "American Spring".  It would be the catalyst to draw the line and bring to a conclusion a decision on the out of control government, one way or the other.  America will rise up or surrender.........for me, I only go to my knees in the presence of God Almighty...........my knees will not touch the surface as a result of some piss ant occupant of the White House or a corrupt legislator, or outside element...I will fall to my death standing if necessary.

There is not much time and the only planning necessary is to select a starting date, which we have done, May 16, 2014, and then show up in Washington, D.C. on that date, and plan to stay for the duration. The goal is restoring the US Constitution as the law of the land, removing the lawless leadership.  Will this be a cake-walk?  No, it will be painful, and some people may die because the government will not be non-violent; some of us will end up in a cell, and some may be injured.  If that's what it will take to save our nation, do we have any choice?  Freedom loving Americans will say there is no choice, we must begin the second American Revolution.  Not with guns, but with millions of Americans demanding a return to constitutional government and the resignation of Obama, Biden, Reid, McConnell, Boehner, Pelosi and Holder as a start...then the constitutional restoration process can begin.  An AMERICAN SPRING can be avoided only if the above mentioned officials resign.

Will our national patriot leaders step forward and declare, "send me", I'll lead?  There are millions of veterans and patriots ready to follow and have said "I will go".

No Fee Voter ID Cards Now Being Issued In North Carolina

In accordance with a new state law passed during the 2013 legislative session, the State of North Carolina will begin issuing no-fee voter identification cards on January 2.

Beginning in 2016, North Carolina will require voters to have a valid photo ID to cast a ballot when voting in person.

A list of photo ID that will be acceptable for voting is available on the State Board of Elections website. No-fee ID cards are available for people who have no other valid forms of photo identification.

Applications for no-fee voter ID cards can be made at any North Carolina DMV driver license office. Applicants will need to present documents that verify their age and identity. Applicants will also need to provide a valid Social Security number.

NCDMV has posted the requirements and documents acceptable for the Voter ID card on its website. Voter ID cards are mailed to applicants within 10 to 15 days following application.

Leaked documents now show what we all suspected: the NSA can turn your iPhone's microphone and camera on and off without you knowing.

One of these is a spyware implant called "DROPOUTJEEP" — designed for the first generation of iPhones — which was still in development in 2008, shortly after the iPhone's launch. It would also, according to the catalog, allow the NSA to divert text messages, browse the user's address book, intercept voicemails, activate the phone's microphone and camera at will, determine the current cell site and the user's current location, "etc." ANT's technicians also develop modified mobile phones, for use in special cases that look like normal, standard devices, but transmit various pieces of information to the NSA — that can be swapped undetected with a target's own mobile phone or passed to informants and agents. In 2008, ANT had models from Eastcom and Samsung on offer, and it has likely developed additional models since."

As we reported previously, ANT specialists at the NSA's department for Tailored Access Operations can remotely access, monitor, and manipulate data in electronics around the world.

According to the report, the NSA intercepts shipments that are ordered online and spyware is manually installed on their target's iPhone.

The NSA claims a 100 percent success rate when it comes to implanting iOS devices with spyware, reports The Daily Dot.

North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un is a monster. Reports surfaced some weeks ago that he had his uncle, Jang Song Thaek, executed but the manner in which this horrific event was carried out was shrouded in mystery. The truth about what happened to his uncle, and other personnel, is more gruesome than anything anyone could imagine. In August 2013 , he had an ex-girlfriend and a dozen others executed by firing squad for possessing "pornography." The truth is they had Bibles with them. In November, some 80 people were executed in mass with machine guns. But this was all a warm up. What Kim Jong-un did to his uncle is unthinkable. Kim Jong-un is proving to be a man more treacherous than his father, Kim Jong-il, who was seen as a grave threat to international security. However, the son is outpacing his notorious father in his lunacy. Kim Jong-un is even more depraved than his wretched father.

The execution of Jang Song Thaek, the No. 2 man in North Korea, took Beijing by surprise and will adversely affect bilateral relations.

Beijing's displeasure is expressed through the publication of a detailed account of Jang's brutal execution in Wen Wei Po, its official mouthpiece, in Hong Kong, on Dec 12.

According to the report, unlike previous executions of political prisoners which were carried out by firing squads with machine guns, Jang was stripped naked and thrown into a cage, along with his five closest aides. Then 120 hounds, starved for three days, were allowed to prey on them until they were completely eaten up. This is called "quan jue," or execution by dogs.

The reports of the execution surfaced around Christmas. Fox News reported that Kim Jong-un was "very drunk" when he ordered the execution of his uncle, who was the former head of the ruling Workers' Party administrative department. He was the second highest ranking official in North Korea, and had been a very close confident to Kim Jong-un. That is until the brutal, merciless dictator turned on him. He said the purging of his uncle brought "greater unity" to the most secretive country on the planet, as reported by CNN.

What was Thaek's crime exactly? For Kim Jong-un to kill, there doesn't have to be a crime, only suspicion. His paranoia knows no bounds.

The tyranical leader of the communist state had accused his uncle – once seen as North Korea's second most powerful man – of treason and corruption and described him as 'scum' and 'factionalist filth' during his recent New Year message.

His supposed crimes against the regime included having 'improper relations with several women' and having 'wined and dined at back parlours of deluxe restaurants'.

In addition, Jang was said to have 'squandered foreign currency at casinos while he was receiving medical treatment in a foreign country under the care of the party'.

Worst of all perhaps, in the twisted logic of this supposed workers' paradise, was that Jang was guilty of 'such factional acts as dreaming different dreams'.

There is no logic to this madness. However, for a Communist regime, such as North Korea, these are reasons enough to have someone fed to a pack of wild hungry dogs. Jong-un is the Supreme leader, and his purging of these high ranking officials in this manner would go unquestioned. This is the most repressive regime on the planet, a country that ranks the worst in human rights abuses. It is a country completely closed off to the rest of the world. North Koreans have no rights. They face prison camps, torture, and executions.

The report said the entire process lasted for an hour, with Mr Kim Jong Un, the supreme leader in North Korea, supervising it along with 300 senior officials.

This means that hundreds of officials sat and watched as 120 wild dogs devoured six men in about an hour. Jong-un sat there without flinching. This is the reality of North Korea: Execution by starving dogs.

There are no words to describe how unsettling this execution method is, but what is also more than disturbing is Kim Jong-un's nuclear ambitions. Jong-un likely killed his uncle because of a business dispute. While the maniacal dictator was praising the execution of his uncle and other high ranking officials, he was also spouting inflammatory rhetoric about war.

"The U.S. and South Korean war maniacs have deployed legions of equipment for a nuclear war in and around the Korean Peninsula and are going frantic in their military exercises for a nuclear war against the North," Kim said. "This precipitates a critical situation where any accidental military skirmish may lead to an all-out war."

"Should another war break out on this land," he said, "it will result in a deadly nuclear catastrophe and the United States will never be safe."

North Korea is not to be trusted. The regime has a partnership with Iran that could lead to nuclear catastrophe. After this latest brutality, Kim Jong-un is proving that he is capable of anything.

Leftist Media Cult Members Attack Little Sisters Of The Poor, Calling Them "Weasels" For Refusing To Be Bullied By Obama Regime

How truly depraved to you have to be on the Left when you start attacking nuns who spend their time taking care of the elderly, the sick and the dying?

Megyn Kelly and Mark Rienzi reference the horrible attacks on the nuns by the Left, in Slate. The nuns are also being attacked in the LA Times, where their case is termed "absurd".

Well, (A$$holes) Michael Hiltzik of the LA Times and Amanda Marcotte of Slate both take the cake.

Because the Little Sisters of the Poor have the temerity to stand up to the bullying of the Obama regime, Hiltzik and Marcotte have actually called the nuns "weasels". The reason they are calling them weasels is because they refuse to sign off on a paper that would amount to a "permission slip" for employees to get abortificients and other contraception.

In their application to Sotomayor, the plaintiffs cited "the sheer enormity of the government's pressure on them to forgo their religious exercise of not providing coverage for the drugs and devices at issue and not authorizing or helping others to do so." They calculated that failing to sign the form would expose them to fines of $6,700 a day, which would break them.

Amanda Marcotte of Slate.com put her finger on the spectacle of plaintiffs "trying to weasel out of nothing more onerous than signing a piece of paper."

If this were were just an innocent exemption form, as Hiltzik and Marcotte claim, why is the government so desperate to have the nuns sign off on it? Why can't the government simply exempt the nuns, without forcing them to be a party to the contraception actions? If the nuns signing off on the paper is required, then it is truly a functional permission slip.

Beyond that, if the nuns objection is not just on their refusal to back contraception, but on the Government's lack of Constitutional right to dictate what is and is not "religious", then signing anything would amount to a conceding of the Government's role, which would be conceding the Constitutional point.

Why is it important for you to understand the subject of the Hegelian Dialectic?

Because it is the process by which all change is being accomplished in society today. More importantly, it is the tool that the globalists are utilizing to manipulate the minds of the average American to accept that change, where ordinarily they would refuse it.

The Hegelian Dialectic is, in short, the critical process by which the ruling elite create a problem, anticipating in advance the reaction that the population will have to the given crisis, and thus conditioning the people that a change is needed. When the population is properly conditioned, the desired agenda of the ruling elite is presented as the solution. The solution isn't intended to solve the problem, but rather to serve as the basis for a new problem or exacerbate the existing one.

When the newly inflamed difficulty reaches the boiling point of a crisis, it becomes the foundation upon which arguments may again be made for change. Hence, the process is repeated, over and over, moving society toward whatever end the planners have in mind.

It's also important to understand that as this process is being driven, arguments are created both for and against certain measures of change. All arguments are controlled. The presented solutions — each with varying levels of unadornment — are "debated" publicly by the manipulators or their minions. This is done until a perceived compromise has been reached on the best measure to take in route to solving the crisis. Then, the outcome of the "debate" — which purportedly weighs the concerns of the public with the mandate to do something — is enacted as public policy.

Such is a summary of the Hegelian Dialectic. Though few in American society have ever heard of it, still fewer have not been profoundly impacted by its use in the effective neutralization of opposition in the formation of public policy.
