Sir,
AS I PM'ed you yesterday, I am still willing to command Troop D, and as far as I know One Star Charlie is still willing and able to act as my adjutant, and I've seen Irish Red O'Tooe's postings around the barracks from time to time, and he had agreed to be my Top Sgt. If this is still agreeable to them and to you, we shall continue, Sir.

Your humble servant, Sir!

Good Afternoon, Colonel El Confederado;

Bvt. Captain Malachi Thorne, USMC, reporting as ordered.

My previous assignment was that of Detachment Commander of Marines, Department of the Pacific.  I am willing (and now able) to fullfill that post, and am willing to undertake other assignments as well.  (I am, however, partial to the Corps, and would prefer to remain within the USMC...)

I have the honor to remain,

Your Obedient Servant,

Bvt. Captain Malachi Thorne
Commander, US Marine Detachment
Department of the Pacific

I have the honor to remain,

Your Obedient Servant,

Bvt Col. M. Thorne
Department of the Pacific

Good Morning, Gentlemen;

I have been in recent contact with General US Scout, who has informed me that Colonel El Confederado will be returning to the Barracks very shortly.  In anticipation of the Colonel's return, I have taken the liberty of compiling a list of the Department of the Pacific Officers and Men, as well as their last known assignments, who have reported in to date:

Bvt. Colonel El Confederado
Commanding
Department of the Pacific

Bvt. Captain Douglas Cedar
Commanding
D Troup, US Cavalry
Department of the Pacific

Acting Chief Petty Officer Bosun Pete
US Navy
Department of the Pacific

Bvt. Captain Malachi Thorne
Commanding
US Marine Detachment
Department of the Pacific

Colonel Sir Harry Flashman
Currently Unassigned
Department of the Pacific

Bvt. Captain Reb Tyree
Commanding
Central California Cavalry Troop
Department of the Pacific

Acting First Sargeant Old Top
US Army (Branch Unspecified)
Department of the Pacific

Additionally, Bvt. Captain Cedar reports that the following members of his troop have previously expressed a desire to assist in moving the GAF forward, but have not reported in directly:

Bvt. 1st LT One Star Charlie
Adjutant,
D Troup, US Cavalry
Department of the Pacific

Acting 1st Sargeant Irish Red O'Toole
D Troup, US Cavalry
Department of the Pacific

If there are any other members of the Department wishing to report in, please do so at your earliest convenience; this will allow the Colonel to hit the ground running upon his return.

I have the honor to remain,

Your Obedient Servant,

Bvt. Captain Malachi Thorne
I have the honor to remain,

Your Obedient Servant,

Bvt Col. M. Thorne
Department of the Pacific

Bvt Capt Malachi Thorne is appointed as Acting Chief of Staff for the Department of the Pacific until such time as Bvt Col El Confederado completes his family obligations and can rejoin us.

Bvt Capt Thorne is authorized to make such decisions and actions as necessary for the well being of the Department.  Since he has already begun to do so on his own initiative, I have no doubts that he will continue to run the Department until further notice.
