HAMMER DOUBLES

[Coffinmaker]

  Yessiree Bob - Doubles

I have a "thing" for Hammer Doubles (Surprise!!).  Along with that, I have had an another "thing" for Double Rifles.  Due to a couple of inquiries I made on line, I have had a dearth of presentations to follow.  However, the most commonly referred double rifles are Box Lock or, at best, internal hammer side lock guns.  With a notable exception.  The Pedersoli Kodiak Mark IV.

An exposed Hammer Double Rifle, chambered in 45-70 and available with a fixed set of 20 Gauge Shotgun Barrels (See!! subject does fit in Shotguns).  It is also available in 9.something X something, but who cares.  Now, I can't and will never be able to afford one of those bespoke double rifles that start at 5 figures and only go UP.  Heck, I can't even afford the Pedersoli, even at its bargain price starting at about 7 or 8 grand.  But it's nice to imagine ....

Now, as near as I can tell, The nicer Hammer Double shotguns we play with start their life in the Huglu factory, then go to Peder., Pietta, CZ, etc.  Whilst I was drooling over the Pedersoli Kodiak, I noticed a striking resemblance to the "other" 1878 replicant high end Hammer Double shotguns.  I are willing to bet, that apple of my eye, Pedersoli Double Rifle has its humble beginnings in the afore mentioned Huglu replicator.

Now.  I just need for some long unknown well healed relative to gift me about nine grand (yeah, I'm greedy).  Or I should find a lamp onna beach . . . . .

Did I see kits being advertised somewhere to build a double rifle using a double-barrelled shotgun as the base? That'd be up your alley!

I wonder if Briley makes a 45-70 Insert for a 12ga?
