Major 2

Our good friend John Saffran has had a fall and broke his hip.
Doctors operated last Monday and inserted some rods, and they did get him to standup very briefly. He will be going to re-Hab
located in Minnesota next week (in the hospital now)
For about 3 weeks he said.
He and his Wife had flown to up on bereavement, their daughter in Law had lost her brave fight with breast cancer a week ago.
I just got off the phone, and he is in good spirits and will keep me updated....

Prayers and best wishes Johnny

I spoke to Johnny a while ago.... :)

He is improving, he sat up and took some steps Thursday.
When we spoke, he was in a chair and waiting to transport to the Re-Hab center today.
He said, "many thanks for the well wishes".

I'm keeping up with Johnny about every other day.

He is coming along quite well; he's walking with a walker in
therapy.
He was up to 130 steps on Tuesday. He hopes to fly home in about 2-3 weeks.
He say's "full recovery could be perhaps 9 months or more."

I txt him a week or so ago and never received an answer.  I am glad he is doing well.

I spoke with Johnny earlier last evening.
He was in good spirits, progressing nicely, he has a rehab release date of Saturday the 13th.
He's not sure if they will fly home immediately or stay with his daughter over that weekend.
He is anxious to get back home.

It is great to get a discharge date. When I get out, I will have spent 50 days in rehab and hospitals. This was the first time in 85 years that I have been helpless. Very very humbling! But I am not complaining. It could have been much worse.

I did a podcast on Things we take granted www.youtube.com/watch?v=BjBdiJYiZaA
I have a few things to add to that list.

You need to learn to like all the little everday things like a sip of good whiskey, a soft bed, a glass of buttermilk,  and a feisty old gentleman like myself
