Thanks, Abeline. I'll probably give Perfect Pattern a try.

Beatiful piece of walnut for the one piece grips!  Color case hardening is nicer than hte pictures show.

Here's the main article picture for the two part article I am doing for the chronicle.  Those are orignal .44 Colt rounds.  The box is an exact replica sold by GC1876 on eBay.

CLEAN MATCH! First time in 30 years in SASS that I shot a multi day, annual match clean. About 300 rounds of pistol, rifle, and shotgun.  The Richards .44 Colt Type II shot like a dream. If I pointed it at the target, it hit it dead center. It was much more naturally "pointable" than the 5" Schofield I paired it with. The Schofield took some concentration.  The Richards just seemed to know where to shoot. My rifle was a .44-40 Henry Repeating Arms "New Original Henry", their exact copy of the original 1860 Henry.

Ammo foir the Richards was the last of the 750 rounds of Load-X, 205 grain, .44 Colt factory ammo that I got with Truth and Justice 3 1/2 years ago.

Way to go, TL!  Did that make you feel a little younger?  :D

I shoot about 5 annual multi-day matches near me, so the odds help me to have some clean ones, but I have had a habit of getting snake-bit at the largest one, Comancheria Days, ranging from 200 to 300 shooters depending on whether it is the state match or not that year.  I have shot it clean 2 or 3 times, but several 1-miss matches, and two times I missed being clean without missing any targets.  One was a blatant procedural, there was a knock-down rack with a no-shoot target directly below and in front, and after knocking the plates down you shot any remaining rounds on a dump target to the right.  I knocked them down fine and then dumped on the no-hit target.  Well, I've shot other knockdown racks where the target right in front was the dump, so... :).  The other time we had a 2 hour rain delay, it was pouring.  Still drizzling when we started back and somehow I managed to only put 4 rounds in one revolver.  So not only a miss but wasted time going around the cylinder a couple more times trying to get that empty chamber to fire.  :D   Good thing this is fun anyhow.

I haven't shot more than a couple local matches total in the last two years.  This is my first annual in over two years. Prior to that, I'd do two annuals (one spring and one fall) and 3-4 local matches a year.

Congrtulations, TL. Nice shooting. good to hear that the Richards was up to the task. Not surprised to hear that the Schofield took some concentration. I've found that myself with them.

Its kinda funny.  About 1 1/2 to 2 years ago,  I had decided to retire from CAS due to my  wife's and my health issues.  Thanks to modern medicine, a lot of grit on our part, and support from family, we have moved past it, and have crawled out of that dark place, feeling fully alive for the first time in over two years!

For the first time in several years, we have both started to reclaim our lives, and are engaging in our passions. For both, it is dry camping in our 24' trailer in the mountains; for her - her plants and aquariums; For me, that is shooting CAS and Old West history.  In fact, I just put a gently used Uberti 1866 Carbine in .44-40 on lay a way.

I think with its 8" barrel, it points a tad better than my pair of Anderson 1860 conversions with their 5.5" tubes.....
