Is there an index listing the articles that have appeared in The Shootist? Are past issues archived anywhere?

Thanks

-chris

Tascosa Joe

The past Shootists magazines have been saved as a digital file.  I am unaware of an Index and at this time I don't know of a link.  Chris are you a NCOWS member?

Yes sir, I'm member 4098. I am a museum curator, so my job is to do research and write about it. I was thinking of attempting some articles for the Shootist, but don't want to write something that has already been covered

Welcome Chris, perhaps you could do a seminar at our convention next March
in addition to writing an article

Every article is unique when told from a different perspective.
As a Curator, I'd love to read of your insights covering museums preserving Old West collections.

I was hoping to attend the convention, but had to change my plans at the last minute due to work. I am hoping to attend next year.

I had not thought about talking about preservation. I'm sure I could bore people on that subject for a good while. ;D

;D I too was curator at Military Museum after I retire from
the Motion Picture and entertainment industry.

I still do conservative & preservation on the side.

Chris:
Where is the name & location of the museum where you are the curator?

It is a small museum in southwest Missouri. The Joplin History & Mineral Museum. Before 1900, Joplin was very much a mining boomtown full of saloons, gambling and other entertainment to separate a miner from his money. tI is right next to Baxter Springs Kansas, the first cowtown in the state, and was an entry-point into the Indian Territories. A lot of local history that coincides with the NCOWS timeline.

I have been in the field for around 30 years, and ran my own exhibit design company that helped to create a pilot program with MODoT to put museums in municipal buildings along transportation corridors. I have presented preventative conservation strategies at various conferences and have dealt with all kinds of collections over the years. I can bore people on a number of subjects, and if you have a mystery rock, I'm your guy.

Major 2, I clicked on your web page and saw your filmography. I was an extra in Gone to Texas, many, many years past.

Not sure on the name, but we were right next to Del Rio, across from Acuna, Mexico

That was Mud Creek, where we shot the Battle of San Jacinto scenes.
