You got a good deal even then. Adjusted for inflation, $300 in 1990 is equivalent of about $735 today.  There aren't many of us here who wouldn't jump on a 1918 Colt 1911 for $735, even in lesser condition!

It was most definitely in "lesser condition"!  Wish I would have bought the other, much nicer one, too.  Mine was $250, and that one was $350!  Ah, regrets.......

I have one of the "Turkey Guns" 1911s, used it at the expansion era shoot this month in Indiana. SHoots very well
Found it in a pawn shop, new in box for less than 250.00.
Is it as good as my Gold cup? Wouldn't say that, but not bad at all.
