Major 2

I recall, Kevin it was one of the prods to do one for me.

I think they are uber cool perhaps not in 2000's safety wise thinking.
I want a COLT donor, considered a Smith Mod 10 that one of the importers were handling.
(Singapore Police Buy Backs) they were $195. but I decided eh!  It was a COLT.
John Fitzgerald only did COLTS.

I do own both a Colt Commando w/ Letter & WW2 service, and a Police Positive with Police provenance.
Neither are donor guns as both are in great Condition.

One thing the Colt's have over S&Ws for this kind of conversion is the hump that has to be left on the S&W trigger area during cut off whereas the Colt can be smoothed straight across. Looks cleaner in my opinion.

Forty Rod

Quote from: pinto beans on August 09, 2024, 05:44:26 PMBeing an old stick in the mud a vintage Colt police positive special in 38 special carried in a simply rugged silver dollar pancake holster.  A much enjoyed revolver!!

P.B.
Mine is similar, a 1947 vintage Colt Detective Special with a 2" barrel.  I added a Tyler T-Grip but otherwise it's as stock as a stove.  It rides in a Vampire upside down shoulder rig and I usually carry two speed loaders.  With Hornady Critical Defense loads I can put six out of six in an 8" circle at 20 yards in about6-7 seconds.  It took a lot of practice and some coaching, but it was worth it.

My cold weather gun is a .45acp Rock Island 1911 that has been refinished and had some replacement stuff added by David fink at Gunsite.  I put some VERY expensive (IIRC around $23.00  ::) ) hardwood double diamond grips on it and had Dave add a set of Novak three dot tritium sights on it to help my tired old eyes.  It rides in a cross draw holster I had made by a local craftsman and I carrye two mags of Hornady's ammo in a belt slide carrier.  I don't shoot it as well as the .38...four or five out of eight in a 10" circle... but I'm working on it.

Quote from: Major 2 on December 15, 2024, 06:16:36 AMI'm not all that about .380, I've had a few, but currently nothing so chambered.

Many years ago (30 +), I had an Arcadia Machine and Tool Backup 380 (AMT DA Backup)
These were Stainless Steel semi autos (in the Seacamp size range) pocket 380's.
They were snappy, and not all that, I traded it off never sorry.
Probably, somewhere around then I acquired a Romanian PPK .380 clone.
Shotgun News posted a deal, Buy @ $129 or buy 3 at $105.ea.
So, 3 of us pooled and we ordered 3 of them.
Fit & Finish was cob like, but it did function.
Like the AMT, the broad side of a barn was reasonably safe.

My Pard had a Beretta Mod. 1934, and I have a M1935 both are WW2 bring backs.
I fell for the charms of the 32acp. and have collected several though I never carry them concealed. Several have provenance in WW1 or WW2 service.

I carried a Beretta T-70 (like the 1934-1935 guns but more streamlined) in .32acp all through my college years.  It rode in my front right pocket most of the time.)  I was carrying it the day I got married because we eloped and her dad threatened to shoot me.  I told him he got the first shot and after that I'd do all the rest of the shooting.)

I've been trying to find another one for over fifty years.

Quote from: Johnson Barr on January 10, 2025, 02:44:33 PMWhat barrel length/caliber Colt Police Positive are you looking for Major?

Neat that 40Rod re-up this thread  :)
I'm still looking for that beater Police Positive donor for my project.

I did pick up a Smith K-38 15-2 4" Service revolver
with some holster wear carried most, shot little.
The tale of the gun is Border Service in Niagara NY, but only the tale, no paper trail less I opt for S&W Letter.

The Fitz project should I ever get to do one
 would not be an EDC.
Just a nod and cool example of an era gone by.

These are my CCW's, the Smith is EDC right pocket.
If I needed a jacket, then the EMP joins in.
but it has a leather flap OWB also

StrawHat

I am old school, a 4" Model 22-4, in a Sunday Scabbard just behind my right hip.

I would post an image but can not figure out how to size it small enough.

Strawhat, that sounds like an awful nice and classy rig.

Based on my threat assessment, I have CC'd a .45 acp M1911, .45 LC SAA w/ 4.5" barrel, or a .22 WMR Heritage Barkeep w/ 2" barrel.  The last is my normal summer carry piece for here in FL.
Scouts Out!
