WTB Spencer carbine
« on: November 23, 2022, 10:09:31 PM »
I know these are a bit of a "hen's tooth" gun these days, but figured if I had luck anywhere, it would be here.

Looking for a Chiappa/Cimarron carbine in either .45 or .44-40...

If you have a broken/junked one you would let go for cheaper, even better.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Dixie Gun Works shows the 44/40 in stock. I think there’s also a few on GB. Been looking at them myself

I had one in .56-50. Starline makes the brass. They are wonderful shooters.

I found mine when I was in a gun shop buying some supplies and wasn't looking for anything else.  I happened to look off at the side and it was with several rifles that were on consignment.  I was fortunate to get a nice Chiappa in 44-40.

I have a Taylor's (Armi Sport) Spencer carbine in .44 Russian that worked wonderfully well for years until the cartridge ramp spring broke.  This is an early one that has the original Spencer-style V spring that is no longer available as a replacement part from Armi Sport.  I made a new one from an original Spencer V spring but it doesn't appear to have enough tension to allow decent feeding.

Anyway, since you mentioned a "broken/junked" one might be of interest, this one is still in great shape except for that spring, and I believe I still have a second unaltered Spencer V spring as well.

This rifle was my main match rifle for several years of cowboy matches and it still shoots very well, just not as a repeater because of that spring.  If you are interested I'd be happy to send pictures and discuss it further.

*** This Spencer has been sold to Dreamwalker ****
