Thinking about having my El Patron barrel shortened to 4 inches and wondering if anybody can recommend a "Smith"

Thanks !!

considering what is involved in cutting to 4 inches, you might be well advised to hang around and see if you trade.  If a even four inches is your hearts desire, the barrel has to be shortened, crowned, new sight, Ejector housing and ejector rod shortened and barrel drilled and tapped for the screw.  Won't be cheap.

I'd suggest Boomstick Jay

Plus one to Coffinmaker including the recommendation for Boomstick.  Also how long is your existing barrel?  If it is 4 3/4" when you shorten the barrel part of the old sight slot will be right in the middle of the cut.

Barrel is 5.5" right now, just tried some hefty .357's today and I believe I will leave it as-is. The extra weight forward helps with recoil. Thanks for the responses gents !

Yes, barrel length makes a big difference in "felt" recoil. I shoot .45 Colt in 3 different Uberti's. The 7 1/2 inch barrel is nice to shoot. Very little recoil. 5 1/2" barrel is still not bad, but my newest acquisition, a New Sheriff model with 3 1/2" barrel is a different animal. Shooting the exact same loads in all 3.

The original bad bob

There is a smith in Phoenix AZ name Bob James.. his work is very good.
