That would be a great vacation and we'd love to have you!

Shot the WY state sass match in Cody, a beautiful place. I strongly recommend Cody and it’s fantastic  museum. We ate at the Irma often. Stayed in one of the older cabins in town behind whatever hotel that it was. And also add Mt Rushmore, Deadwood and Yellowstone to your itinerary. One of our best vacations ever.

We shot our BAMM today. 10 shooters braved the heat but we couldn’t handle it, wussed out and only shot 5 scenarios. 5 shot BAMM and DA revolvers, 3 shot BAMM and 1911s and there were 2 cowboys. The targets were a bit close for boltguns, IMO, but the RO was trying to KISS and reduce the work load. With only three misses, no p’s and only a little flub up on the first scenario I came in second BAMM/revolver. 30 seconds out of first. Shiitake happens! I used my 1897, a Mk1 Springfield from 1919, a Thunder Ranch .45acp and an old 1917 .455 Smith that had been rechambered to .45 schofield. I also tried shooting double duelist for the first match today and had 2 misses were my left revolver, the other miss was my flub up with the ‘97. Need more left hand practice. As soon as Ex-schoolmarm sends me the photos she took today I’ll post them.

A3  Sniper ?     nice ... I too have a scant stock on my 03

I like it , it is more ergonomic  than the straight stock

Target a 50yds  165 grain Hi-tech coated & 13.1 grain of TB

Nice Springfields guys. I like the look and feel of the ‘C’ stock though. I removed the ‘scant‘ from the stock that I bought for my first rebuild. The second build was with a straight stock that I found. I guess it’s what you get used to. The scout that I’m playing with now will be with a gifted cut up ‘c’ stock.

I had toyed with finding a straight stock for my 03 ...but cost and the fact I do like the Scant has detoured me....

The '03 that I use in the GAF EEM side matches has a straight grip (and, of course, the barrel rear sight).

Yes, Major it is an '03A3 Springfield converted to replicate the '03A4. I plan to use it in CMP Vintage Sniper matches. I got a heck of a buy on it and it's in really nice shape.

Years ago (maybe mid- 1980's ) I had a 03A3 .... I recall it was one of several a LGS had from "LOT"  purchase.
I think it/they was about $130 ea.  out the door, foolishly allowed it to get away.
Those days are LONG gone !

I've got an '03/A3 I've thought of "snipering" It's already been D/T for a scope, but as I got it just has screw plugs in the holes. It's in a straight stock that's been heavily sanded and varnished.
