New Zealand Spencer and Serial # Exact Match

Hi there from New Zealand ,
I inherited a spencer saddle carbine  serial no.56606 can anyone help me or tell me about its origins and how it came to be in NZ in the late 1800?s I believe it .56-56 rimfire

Hi Waybrooke1,

If you gave me the correct serial # then I have an exact match in my SRS Research book.  Spencer Carbine serial # 56606 was issued to Company D, 6th Illinois  Volunteer Cavalry, in 1865.  It's not too often that I get an exact serial # match.

How it ended up in NZ is anybody's guess.
