Love those slimjims, Mo. My rigs are the same style although I've not tried a crossdraw one. Maybe I will one of these days. Those percussion pistols are fun. What is the story on the pepperbox?

Major, you really captured the essence of that Capt. Schaeffer holster. Nice job, there.

Mine are all a cross between Hollywood Interpretations of holsters and Thel Reed style of "fast draw" holsters.  Sort of a California Slim Jim with a muzzle forward Cant,  cut to expose the trigger guard.

Yeah, I am a slimjim fanatic (come to think of it, I like the slimjim beef sticks).   The pepperbox is a Spanish replica from the 70s as well.  It was sold as "Gold Rush Pepperbox" it is a 6-shot 22 caliber cap and ball.   I picked it up at an estate sale.    I am a sucker for pepperboxes too after John Wayne's description of them in Rooster Cogburn.    You can find them on line occasionally and I almost bought one on Gunbroker a few years back, but I am very Caveat Emptor when it comes to getting on line.  This one was in the box with all the pieces and honestly does not look like it had been fired, so I could not resist.  Now, it needs a nice holster sewn into my vest for all those card games.

I can only take credit for the seed of the idea,  plagiarizing the original in concept then deferring to a true leather smith to bring it to reality....

Tiz better looking still in person  :)

It sounds like you found a good one with that pepperbox (you like pepperoni, too?). A 22 cal cap and ball sounds like an interesting item. I didn't know they made such a thing.

You got a great little rig there. I like new representations of old leather items. There are a few cool old holster designs I intend to copy one of these days. All I need is to devote the time to it.

I am partial to the Slim Jim style holsters. I have a pair I made for my Uberti 1860 Colt replicas.

Personally, for my SASS persona I am using my mid-19th Century non-standard cavalry rigs (Millet-Fechet strong side) with a slim jim cross draw for the "off" side. But, I make anything from the late 1840's through about 1910, except for the 96x-series hunting and field rigs.

Steve75, which tool did you use to incise the design on your slim jims?

Thank you Marshal.  :)

Skeeter, I used a swivel knife with a hollow ground 1/4" blade.
