Oh, I don't know. It is period correct, maybe stash a few down range for anyone who runs out of ammunition. I'll have to see if we need any mass/velocity restrictions to prevent target damage.
Should those concerns be addressed, I would say that only the brass handled M1889 is allowed in the Victorian match, along with the earlier handle-less M1873. The M1889/16 bakelite handle is permitted for EEM. 1889/16/18 Wood handles, German adaptations and any postwar version is not allowed at all I'm afraid, along with the Russian model, though I'm sure few if any of those have been imported. It must be understood that the supporting Trebuchet equipage for the earliest models cannot be allowed, in order to alleviate any transport concerns of the membership.
I have seen photo's indicating Italian usage along the front with Austria-Hungary, but we have no documentation of domestic production. Moreover none seem to have handles of any sort, thus are most likely are imports from France of the earlier M1873s, or perhaps they were selling off some of the undocumented ad-hoc production from the Franco-Prussian Siege of Paris.
