Zoot Shotgun
« on: December 13, 2018, 08:43:22 PM »
I had boughten a Browning Auto 5 for Zoot Shooting. After our first shoot I realized that a 30" full choke barrel is not ideal for Zoot Shoots. First I was going to shorten the barrel. But being this was a Belgiam Browning I just couldn't take a hacksaw to the barrel. Last winter, I found a Remington Model 11 in a Green Bay' Wis. gun store for $199.00. I bought it today, on sale for $169.00. Now where's my hacksaw?

Merry  Christmas to all

I planned to get different barrel for my Browning so I could do the same, but they want more for barrels than what I paid for the gun.....

That's why I bought the Remington, it was cheaper than a replacement barrel.

A shorter barrel may change the recoil forces so you may need to turn the friction ring aroundas if  for magnum loads for reliable cycling.

The latest on the sawed off shotgun saga!! I bought a Remington Model 11, because I couldn't take a hacksaw to a Belgium Browning! I've been waiting to shorten the barrel on the Remi, as I wanted to add an extended magazine. I've been looking at the Nordic Components set up. The set up comes with a nut to replace your magazine cap. One end has threads dedicated to your shotgun and the other end has Nordic's threads to fit their extensions. As I have both a Browning Auto 5 and a Remington 11, I tried the cap that came off the Browning, on to the Remi, and it did not fit. So I ordered the Nordic nut for both the Remington and Browning. The Remington nut did not fit on the Remington, but the Browning nut did, explain that to me. So now I'm waiting for the 2 shell extension. In the mean time I cut the barrel on the Remi to 20" (long enough for the extension). The shotgun worked great with factory loads, but not with my cowboy loads. But boy does it kick!! More when I get the extension on.

Can't you get a Savage 720 riot gun for a decent price?

It's also A5 based. And it is a genuine "zoot suit" gun. Also, you don't need to cut the barrel. ;D

Yeah, they DO kick. These were all made during our time frame and still work great.
