A new Hi Power mud puppy
« on: May 17, 2019, 08:42:27 PM »
Won an auction for a LEO trade in Belgian Browning Hi Power. Built in 1985, The finish is beat up, but thankfully it seems to be confined to the paint finish. Mechanically tight with a good bore and heavy but clean trigger. New grips on order and it is gonna get sand blasted and refinished and will probably lose the magazine safety to improve the trigger.

What we did with our issue INGLIS Hi-Powers for service competition, where altering the firearm was verboten, was to polish the front of the magazine where the mag safety shoe slid over it.

Thank you for the tip! I only have 2 mags for it right now and one is pretty rough, so I will try this. Thankfully have some new Mec-Gars coming for it.

Well, I took a small file to the rear sight and opened it up more for my bi-focal eyeballs. Waiting for some Wolff springs to get here.

Picked up some new grips, took a couple minutes of fitting due to the lanyard loop, but turned out better looking than the old ones.

Nice!  Too bad you spoiled the image with the Schweizerdeutch thing underneath.

Hmm, talked to the importer today. Looks like the old gal was an IDF pistol originally, then went to the Tel Aviv Israel Police Force! Quite a history, now I am torn whether to refinish or not. This old warhorse has earned it's scars, but it could also deserve to be dressed up again!
