Ordering a Spencer Carbine

I returned a pair of Cimarron .44 Spl. Open Tops as unsatisfactory. That means I have a credit balance which I intend to apply towards a Spencer carbine in 56-50.
Since they are made by Chiappa, does it make any difference if it is ordered from Taylors or Cimarron?

Both Cimarron and Taylor’s protect there dealers by only selling at Mfg. list price. If you want a Spencer then you should contact a dealer and get a price from them. Most of the time it is lower than either Cimarron or Taylor’s list price.

PJ Hardtack,
I subscribe to the "The Single Shot Exchange" magazine and in their classified section there is a fellow selling a Spencer Rifle by Armi/Chiappa in 56-50 caliber. Also included in the selling price of $900.00 is 50 pieces of Starline Brass in 56-50, and a Lyman three piece die set with a #22 shell holder.
I have no connection with him just giving you the information. If you want his phone # shoot me an Email at fsgrand2@fairpoint.net. Any thing you work out is between him and you.

Thanks for the input, gentlemen.
I will be ordering through a dealer, as I did the Open Tops.
I don't want the rifle, I prefer the carbine. Also, as a Canuck, I would have to import a gun through a customs broker which jacks up the price.

I've been doing some surfing on the quality control issues of many repro Spencers. I'm astounded that they seem to be so problematic and that support is not all that it should be.
This is making me wonder if I want to risk getting another lemon gun that will need work out of the box just to function. Support from Cimarron in particular seems to be lacking and guns need to be sent back to Chiappa.
One option is to order a Romano version, but that would entail a divorce ..... My wife is indulgent, but only to a point.

PJ,
You posted on this thread -
http://www.cascity.com/forumhall/index.php/topic,36200.0.html
so you seem to be aware of the "feeding problems" associated with the Armi Sport Spencer
discussed many. many times on SSS.
And this was the follow up thread to the above thread . . . http://www.cascity.com/forumhall/index.php/topic,38682.0.html . . . indicating that feeding problems were somewhat corrected.
