I discovered the tops & bottoms of soup cans, bake bean cans, dog food etc.
The cards were my first   aha !   :)   but used cans lids are free.

Corrugated cardboard box cut size works real well on the fork tines ( some quick spray paint make it a bright target )

I blasted away 300 rounds of shorts yesterday   :D    Have to hit Academy Sports for more CCI shortys

Homespun shooting galleries are a ton of fun.  Have you tried glue stick bullets? -  over .45 casing no powder just primer. Shoot in garage or basement.  You can pucnh thru paper targets with ease.  Winter coming on you might need some trigger time.

no never tried Glue sticks, read about it though....

Gallery's were a great passtime when I was young.... I even wrote an article for NCOWS Shootist about gallerys.
Disney World had 2 lead slinging gallery's up until 1984  .... now history
I get no warm fizzy from the electronic or lazer hit versions in todays political correct snowflake world.

My guess is "if" gallery stages were a part of the NCOWs picture , I think we'd see a resergence in younger shooters.

They (gallery's) existed in the ERA.... even Winchester's 73 was chambered in 22
The US Army ordered 800... 22 chambered Krag's for training

Interesting article you have penned.  When i was pre-high school, note: and the oldest child, my father bought a well worn out single shot 12 gauge for me to hunt with him. At the same point of purchase, he bought a 1890 take down model. We believed dated around 1910. We used it for ever. He eventual gave it to my nephew.  My sister may had got rid of it. I don’t know.  I remember shooting what ever was available with it.  I was also a sucker for the shooting gallerys.

I have an 1890 TD that has been in the family since some time in the 1930's at least. My Dad and his brothers all hunted with it, including "hunting" fish in the creek,(I'm sure the statute of limitations has run out on that) and I learned how to shoot with it, too. (No, I never put the muzzle in the water, myself...) It was originally a .22 long, converted to LR, but he showed me how to whittle a piece of stick to put in the lifter, so it would feed shorts.

1890's will bring serious money in fine cond.   most Gallery guns are worn and even TD's and private purchases gun have seem a lot of use but still cost a good $$$.
There is cabin contengent of collectors for the old single cast iron targets and "if" one might find an old Mangels Co. arcade setup, figure $50,000 .

I got back from doing mine.

Did something people who know me may think is odd, voted against term limits for Lincoln mayor.   Let's just say had they made it so term we both o in the spring didn't count they'd of got my vote.  Last minute petion to get it on ballet.   Mayor is ok, a D.   Best change with out him is an R, Lemol's other Grandma.

Didn't seem right the way they did it, sure don't want that low life lawyer/liar in.

Guess that's why I have always been an I, people expect me to think on my own.

Afternoon all.

No flying today. Weather isn't cooperating. Something about clouds being too low, and possible ice forming on the wings (which in a nutshell means you fall out of the sky). That 2 inches of cold white stuff on the ground might be playing a role in this too.  Hopefully fly tomorrow morning, if weather cooperates.

Today I have laundry and a paper to do. Yay.

Voted after work. There's about 490 voters in my precinct, and at 4:30 I was #202. When the "after work rush" comes, that should put it at something over 50%.

I'm hoping there's enough non-St Louis and KC voters showing up to give Claire McCaskil the booterr.. send her off to a well deserved retirement.
