Refining my swaged bullets
« on: August 22, 2018, 10:32:35 PM »
Spent some time today working on a swage for a new bullet profile- this is a 200gr. outside-lubed heel-base bullet for .44 Colt. These are made out of .452 HG68 semi-wadcutters. Have to see how these work out next time I go to the range.

Greetings my dear Tinker
Great looking bullet!
Can we see the staging die?
Any particular steel?
or just some titanium carbide you had lying around?

Now THAT is one fine looking projectile.  Very very fine indeed.  I/We will hop it's performance lives up to it's looks.  Sorta like Ann Margarett  8)

Here's a picture-

The swage block is mild steel, and the hole on the left is .452" for most of it's length, then steps down to .442" to form the heel. The die is lathe-turned from 5/8" mild steel. The hollow was formed with a drill bit and a conical stone in a flex-shaft tool.  The brass rod is used to drive the bullet and die out after swaging.
