I use KIWI shoe polish to coat the leather after it is finished.
Brush it on like you would for a pair of shoes (new or old), then brush hard with a buffing brush. This helps to seal the leather.
Color matching is good, but Neutral works well with everything.
This works well on died leather stuffs from India, Italy and the Middle East, all of which bleed very badly when wet or damp.
I have never had this problem with American dies that at alcohol based.
