Yes, at this point, use last year's form. I'll get my adjutant going on the 2018 form; however, he's been having some health issues, so please be patient. It might be a while before he can get the updated form out.

Sold out threshold is 40.

Hi Jerry

Check went in the mail last week.    ;D  No really the CHECK IS IN THE MAIL.

I would ask all to go here: http://www.cascity.com/forumhall/index.php/topic,17271.0.html    and read up on the class structure and regulations.  There have been some changes, including a slight realignment of the Military Class Structure to better reflect History and usage.  Cap and ball users should be pleased as well.

Just to recap the Pre, Post-1886 Category rule change; 1886 is considered the date smokeless came into common usage. If you shoot a rifle designed pre-1886 but shoot it with smokeless powder, you are shooting in the Post-1886 class. This rule is meant to encourage shooters to use the propellant that the cartridge was designed around. THIS ONLY APPLIES TO THE MIULITARY CLASSES. Civilian classes and the Expansion Era matches are unchanged.

Sooo, for Expansion era, is an 1886 Winchester pre or post?  Mainly cause I DO have one.

Thanks

I believe all the non-military classes will be the same as always.  Your '86 would be Militia, I believe.

Yep, the 1886 is a Militia class weapon, no change there.  This only affects Victorian Military Specification rifles.  Expansion era is unchanged.  Civilian classes are unchanged.

1886 is the Date the French introduced the Mle 1886 Lebel, the 1st Smokeless military rifle fielded. Nearly all military rifle designs subsequent to this were intended for the use of Smokeless/semi Smokeless powder.  There are a very few Transitional rifles from this period that will be handled on a case by case basis.  The early Mannlicher wedge locks come to mind.

So, will the rifles still be divided into single shot and repeater in their respective categories?

Bat, I'm sure you're only asking this question for clarification, because why the hell would someone who can successfully engage all the rifle targets, a(at rifle ranges) with a sidearm be concerned? It is wonderful to watch by the way!
It is far better to remain silent, and be thought a fool, than to speak and remove all doubt!

No, the only division will be year and powder type.  But only for the Military Rifle classes.  All others are unchanged.   http://www.cascity.com/forumhall/index.php/topic,17271.0.html

Hi

So, if I shoot 1911 handgunner in the Expansion era match, I can carry 80 rounds of 45 ACP because I get 60 rounds of rifle, and 20 rounds of pistol (all goes in the same 1911).  I could shoot a 1903 Springfield like Bat did in the long range portion of the match, but I don't have one.  What limitations on long range rifles would be in the expansion era match?

Yes, that is correct.

Long range rifles use full power ammunition, you get 15 rounds, with 3 hits required on successive 100-200-300 yard targets each.  The rifle should be the same era as your Skirmish gun, if not the same gun.  In the expansion match, all guns are from the 1900-1916 time frame.

The Expansion era handgunner has an almost unlimited rifle selection, as long as he can reasonable justify its use with his persona.  The 1911's natural rifle would be the 1903.  But a battlefield pickup could be most any small ring mauser, or rolling block, both heavily used in the phillipines.  Marines in China in 1900 picked up "Commission" 1888 rifles.  An officer involved in the China Relief Expedition of 1900 (Boxer Rebellion) could possibly claim a rifle "acquired" from any of the nations involved!  A civilian "Fillibuster" persona could use a Winchester 30-30.

The Boxer Rebellion is a treasure trove of weapon possibilities, and its 1900 date means it can be used for both the Victorian Main Match and the Expansion era match.

I've thought of passing as a Masters Mate off the SS Gussie, a well known gunrunner in Cuban Waters, wielding a Webley Top Break and a Mauser 91 bought in the weapons black market of Buenos Aires . . . In fact, come to think of it, I'll do exactly that for this weekends "Hi-wye-an floweredy shirt match" at my local SASS club (which has a military category just for us GAF types.)

After a great time last year don't plan on missing next year. Question I plan on shooting my trap door but as Spanish Am War period. I would think they still shoot  black power. But that is passed the the post 1886 date so can I load trailboss?  Lots of time to load either.

You can load either.  The period you portray has nothing to do with it.  It is only a means to classify the rifle.  If you shoot smokeless in the Trapdoor, you will be classed as a smokeless powder military rifle.

The rule only works one way:  All we're really saying is if you have a rifle that was designed for Smokeless (say, a Krag) you cannot load it with Black powder and be classed with Black powder rifles.  Black powder designed rifles (Trapdoors, etc) may use either powder, but will be classed accordingly.

I would reccomend BP loading:  It is correct for your portrayal, and you will be classed with other BP rifles.

Per Col. Paul Rosewitz (the worlds foremost authority on the Mountain Howitzer), during the Indian war era Gatling guns were paired up with Mountain Howitzers.

If the Gatling is coming I will bring the Mountain Howitzer.
