Groove Diameter?
« on: October 27, 2015, 03:37:09 PM »
Hello!

new to the Forum and i have a question...

First, my new '76 rifle (just received after a 32month wait!) is a Uberti (Cimarron) 1876 Centennial, 28" bbl in .50-95...

when i received the rifle i slugged the bore to find the groove diameter is .5140-.5145"....it was said that the bore was to be .509"

whatcha got in yours?

btw, i plan to ONLY shoot Goex black powder in the rifle

thanks in advance,

wyman

wyman - the nice thing about black powder, is it's propensity to slug up slightly small bullets to fit the groove diameter of the rifle.

This is usually attributed more to paper patched bullets, but also will happen with grooved lubed bullets, to some extent.
