Can anyone suggest a good quality boot maker that does period correct work?
I've already looked into Fugawee, Missouri shoe and Robert Land.
Trouble is Fugawee gets their footwear made in Mexico, Missouri is not available and Robert Land no longer takes custom orders.

Any suggestions?

Do you have a picture of the design you want?

I would love, myself, to get several pictures, . . . different views, . . . of the cavalry boots worn in the Civil war period up through Custer's time.

I am fond of the Historic line of boots offered by Buffalo Runner Boots.
Just type in Buffalo Runner Boots in you favorite search format.
They offer several period styles of civilian boots and a few that work well for private purchase Military boots.

Hi

Can you shed a little more light on "Missouri is not available." please.  They're on my list of things to buy.  I live in OKC and they're on my way home to Illinois.

I'd LIKE something in the Indian war soldier / Civilian Contractor / period cowboy with one pair of boots range, but I have brogans if that ain't possible.

Maybe you started something here,.................. ;D

Hi

thanks Dispatch.

I have a question on Boot height.  The various websites mention 14 inch tall boots, 16 inch tall boots etc.  14 inches from where?  I ASSUME its from the sole, but am I right?

Thanks

Mike

Missouri Boot and Shoe is still available as far as I know. Made in Missouri, not some imported junk.

1961mjs, the 16" will be just over the calf. 12" is the standard height of a cowboy boot. The "roper" is usually 10" high.

Well, . . . Red Cent, . . . ya did good.

I did the mosey thing over to Missouri site, . . . and took a gander at their offerings.

Yessir, . . . I found the pair I want.

I almost had myself convinced that I could afford them, . . . then my wife came by.

Oh well,..........................

But, . . . again, . . . thanks, . . . ya did good.

Fugawee is ultra comfortable and 99% correct (no one does the old style welt anymore). Remember that in the Old West some great boots & saddles came from Mexico.

A friend of mine raves about this guy.  I have not used him.

I picked up a pair at EOT years ago.  A custom order that was not picked up.  A great day for me.  So I recommend

I looked at the boots on the Mattimore site. There are some nice ones there. I would consider them if I was looking for new boots.
