If you don't mind shooting against 03 Springfields, sure you can do that.  I suspect a good hand with a single shot would still be fairly competitive in a Skirmish setting.  Sure you don't have a .30-30 laying about?

I'd probably reccomend shooting in the rifle only class, no handgun, just concentrate on working that Trapdoor.

My carbine is not a trap-door.  It is a repro  Sharps falling block, single shot.  So, can that be used in the expansion match?

Well, you can but it'd be even slower than a trapdoor. If you want' you can borrow my 1903 or my Krag. If you have the 1911 you could shoot handgunner with just it or do you have a DA Colt or Smith?

Looking good there, did you find some vintage newspapers to paper it with?

That bunk bed looks just right for any former sailors that might be in attendance. Well, maybe it's a bit more roomy than where they bunked at sea....

If by "vintage" you mean last summer and fall.  ;) They'll be vintage someday. In the mean time there are some faces on some of it they GAF folks will recognize.

An Equipment question,  What size "A" tents are y'all using for a single person? with a cot.   I am using up bonus money for equipment, for future events.   I have a round tent, available, made from a 9 ft. umbella shade, Khaki top. etc.  Or maybe a Brit wstyle pyramid?

This is the one I use   http://www.fcsutler.com/fccanvas.asp     the 9' long 7' tall version.   Plenty of room for myself and all my gear, a cot goes neatly across the back, leaving about 7 feet for living space as it where.  Folds up into roughly 3'x3'x6" fitting between the wheel wells in my Dodge Challengers trunk.

I prop it up with segmented wood roundstock and PVC pipe, all cut to fit in the same trunk, 4' Maximum.

Couple stupid newbie questions (sorry):

1. Are checks for registration costs made payable to Mr. Davenport?

2. Are Meal tickets the same as the banquet tickets, are initial banquet tickets included in the standard registration fee, or should I buy one of each?  It says "extra banquet ticket $15.00".  Got me all kinds of confused.  Just need to know how much I need to write the check for!

Sorry again for the dumb questions.

The only stupid questions are the ones you didn't ask

1. Are checks for registration costs made payable to Mr. Davenport?
Either that or the GAF Either one will work

2. Are Meal tickets the same as the banquet tickets, are initial banquet tickets included in the standard registration fee, or should I buy one of each?  It says "extra banquet ticket $15.00".  Got me all kinds of confused.  Just need to know how much I need to write the check for!
The extra banquet ticket is, for instance, if you brought your wife or son and they weren't a registered shooter. The meal tickets are for the number of meals you want to eat on site. We have a cook (Delmonico) who cooks for us but those meals aren't included in the registration fee. The only meal that IS included is the Saturday evening banquet. I hope this is clear. if it isn't ask again.

I just saw that Mr Buck and Mr. Smith are venturing up from Texas for the Muster, and I've gotten affirmation on several of the KVC people making the trip.

I dare say this is going to be one of the larger gatherings we've had in some time.

I am pumped!

Would it be possible to arrange a tour of Ft. Hartsuff?

For those of you who haven't been here before, there's a world class Indian War Museum within about 40 miles at Fort Hartsuff. Hopefully Sunday late afternoon or Monday we'll be able to work in a trip over there.

Sorry it's been a few days since I've been active. I've been a little under the weather.
We've had several new registrations show up in the last week. We now have more officially registered shooters than what we used to have for the Dept. of the MO muster I hosted. It's really starting to look like the muster will be full for the first time ever, anywhere.

Pitspitr, I am excited about this my first muster.  I don't really know what to expect, other than a fun time and experiencing DelMonico's fabled cooking.  I'm certain to make some mistakes, but I have a driving force of friends that got me juiced into going, even though it is right on the heels of the NCOWS National Shoot.  Gonna log some miles on the buckboard that month...

Sounds like it was a fun run. Nothing quite as fast as a good ol prairie fire. Five years back I stepped out of a twelve year career as a Wildland Firefighter. Worked for both DOA and DOI as a paid arsonist. Mitigation was always more fun than suppression. But, then I always did color in the boxes. Maybe I should bring my drip torch and black-line your property Jerry.
On a second note; I'm trying to work up some .30-40 loads for Muster. Can you give me an idea what distances the rifle targets will be placed. And also a recommended bullet weight capable of target knock down.

Go thru the "Care and Feeding of the Krag" thread.  You will find load data and target video.  Any bullet weight between 180 to 220 will work fine at anything between 1000 and 1500 FPS.  You may also want no more than 30 rounds of a Milspec load for the long range portion, utilizing Armor grade targets at 100 to 300 yards.  That data is in the thread as well.
