Chaparral 1876 .45-60
« on: June 28, 2014, 01:24:26 PM »
Well, not sure if I'm going to be happy with it or not, but I've decided to purchase a Chaparral 1876 in .45-60 with a 26" barrel. The company selling them is CDNN I believe. I've wanted a '76 forever and hoping it will be a fine gun. I don't do cowboy action shooting so it will probably only be fired once in a while or at a Whitetail deer. I've read a lot of negative reviews and it's discouraging but I simply cannot afford a Uberti, which are over twice as much. Can anybody out there give me some words of confidence or good stories of the chaparral? Thanks.

Howdy, that`s who I bought mine from and am overall very happy with it.
I went through it and tuned it a little and applied some Casey gun stock oil on the wood to give it a little more shine.
Mine shoots best with 405 grain flat nose bullets and is accurate enough for me, I changed the rear sight to a buckhorn style.
Hope that helps a little, more about it is posted in the 76 forum a while back.
