"Newhaka and Weeping Water mean the same thing"

No, I didn't know that.  I do know I can't physically pronounce "Omaha" - had a couple older ladies from the Omaha Nation try all afternoon to teach one time, but my mouth won't make those sounds.

We gotta Assawoman. Think it’s Algonquin. Don’t know the meanin’. Pronounced like it’s spelt. Funny ta hear the overly made-up news personalities struggle with it when it hits the teleprompter. ‘Specially the carpetbagger types what didn’t know Norfolk, Virginia from Norfolk, Nebraska ‘fore they got the job.

Couldn’t help but think of it after lookin’ it Roo’s post on Stolen Jokes.

a-Ma-Ha-R is somewhat close, can not almost here the vowel on the front.

Bee-ar-iss get em to, they want to call it Beatrice like Aunt Bee on Andy's show.

But there is kind of a gutteral "ng" sound attached to a couple is the syllables that I just can't make.

Kids around here that go to the community college there call it Beat Rice, but not because they don't know better - just because it makes 'em grin.

After looking at Roo's post cuzzin I think they would have to change the name to Assaseveralwomen.

I'm gonna have trouble sleeping after seeing that.

I think my favorite, at lease here in Flor-o-da Flo-rita, Flor-i-duh, Fla-duh ...depending from where one comes.

is when the town of Punta Gorda - (Which roughly translates to a " woman's Fat Ass" in Spanish) comes up.

Weather Broadcast Quote....

"El Huracán Charley golpeó la tierra justo al norte de la Florida Punta Gorda.

"Hurricane Charley hit land just north of a Florida "Woman's FAT ASS"  ;D
when planets align...do the deal !

Morning y'all.
Thanks fer the coffee, Litl Rooster.

BTW Stu, do you know about the towns 6 miles apart with the same name, Newhaka and Weeping Water mean the same thing but one is Otoe and the other is English.
Got one of those here also, Del. I live a mile from Pine River and 7 miles from Poy Sippi. Poy Sippi means Pine River. They are both on the Pine River.

'Tis 57 and overcast. Rained overnight. "Showers likely and scattered thunderstorms in the morning...then showers with thunderstorms likely in the afternoon. Patchy fog in the morning. Highs in the upper 60s. East wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 80 percent."

Ours are on Weeping Water Creek, a small steam with not enough flow to hardly be considered till it rains hard and floods the lowlands.

Thanks for the Cawffee, Hot water, and Iced tea. We have a lot of clouds this morning and it smells like rain, none yet. I had a Lodge meeting and had breakfast before the meeting. They fixed a good breakfast, I may have to go more often.

Sounds like a big tornado hit Wayne yesterday - closer to Del's house than mine by a lot of miles. Lot of damage & a few injuries but nobody killed. My daughter went to college there - news says the storm missed the campus.

Bout 100 miles from me, a friends Mom lives there, he grew up there, damn if it wuld have hit during the Chicken Feat-able it could have been bad.

Was watchin' last night some, was durn worried that it was gonna hit LeMars Ioway, I was worried about the Wells Blue Bunny plant, we think as highly of them as the folks down south think of Blue Bell.

I would be heartbroken If a twister hit Brenham, Texas, where Blue Bell is made. I bought us a chest-type deep freezer and put it in the garage, so we can stock up on half-gallons when they are on sale.

Thursday nigh Buck was about 5-7 miles from work and 10-12 from home, wasn't even close, didn't even have to blow our sirens, was a 1/2 mile from my cuzzins house.
