Did'nt know there were others like me out there !!
I have owned an open top with army grips and 7 1/2 inch barrel, a 60 conversion with 8 inch barrel (both in 44 colt), and a 51 navy with 5 1/2 inch barrel.
Of those three, i came to love the navy grip and the 5 1/2 inch barrel.
Started shooting Classic Cowboy (thought the big calibers would make it a less "gamey"
class).
When they came out with the 45 colt in the 72 open top i had to have a couple.
Been shooting them for about 20 months now and love them.
I know the 45 colt is not "original" but i like the 66 and all of them were in 44 rim fire just like the open tops.
I my mind the 200 gr 45 bullet is as close to the 44 rim fire heeled bullet as possible.
Found a example of a 5 1/2 open top thought to be factory in one of my books so i believe i'm shootin' close to "the real thing"
.
Love these guns, pretty and easy to point, as well as the best balanced.
I am definatly a member of this club
!!!
