Here are a few of my current 1875's (all repros):

This 45 caliber one came to me in parts with a "Burned" up barrel (the fellow tried to oxy/ace weld the sight back on after bending it to adjust POA).
I shortened the barrel to 6", which I believe is pseudo correct, installed dovetailed front sight, recrowned and then rechambered a 357 cylinder to 44 Colt heel base so it is now "convertable"!

This one is an early pistol, probably mid '80's, in 44-40. Notice the brass trigger guard. The blued steel trigger guard is a recent correction by Uberti (Rattlesnake Jack probably added those on his pistols above), I have a steel trigger guard and intend to defarb this one and reblue it w/o the color case on the frame one of these days........

This is an early (4 digit serial) factory nickle one in 44-40 with the Navy Arms roll mark on the barrel.

Those are excellent Remingtons you have HH.

Uberti 1890. Action job. Sight notch .100" .357. Tru-Ivory grips. I didn't want to send in the gun so I got some made and custom fit them to the gun. Enlarged the locating hole, put bedding release on the locating pin and some JB weld in the enlarged hole. I relocated the grips shifting them for best fit. Then scribed around them, used sandpaper on a dowel and a piece of wood to shape them down to the line and polished with Rouge and a cotton tip on a Dremel. Worked out well. I really like this gun.

Smoothed, shortened to six inches, blued, Vintage Grips. Done by the late Bob Shaw. Sold one to brother in law and he built a second for CAS. I am plotting a buy back. Just fixed this one with a new bolt.

Question for you gentlemen. Me and the wife are going to Pigeon Forge for spring break, and I've convinced her to let me make the 6 hour drive to Dixie Gun Works to grab an 1875 clone. My question to you folks is, how could I remove the color case hardening on the frame and get it that kind of white steel look? I'm usually more of a plain jane with my wheel guns, but those are absolutely gorgeous.

Naval jelly, white vinegar, or Birchwood Casey blue/rust remover will take off the case color off. Then if you want it shiny, polish it. Steel wool works well.

How would you keep it from the barrel/web/ejector rod? Just put some tape over it? Sorry to hijack the thread. And thanks for the reply!

If you remove the screw that holds the web/ejector rod assembly on, you only have to worry about the barrel as the web/ejector... comes off. Then tape could be used at the base of the barrel.

Well, here's my Remmie. I've decided not to mess with the case-hardening, for now. I just refinished the grips today, my first attempt doing something like that. They're not perfect by any means, but they're mine and I'm proud of them.

Finally picked up my first Remington 1875. This one is a Uberti imported by Stoeger.

It shoots great.
I do have a question about the 1875s though. Are the firing pins supposed to be loose in the hammer? My Colts don't really move around but the firing pin on this one can be moved around.
