Where`d Grizzly Adams go, hope all is good bro.

Hi, Pitchy.  I have been hanging out at Founder's Ranch.  We have been shooting the Buffalo Stampede event, and it has been a fine affair, indeed!  I managed to land a second place finish in Frontier Cartridge.

Looks like you are getting that new gal dialed in pretty well!  By the way, great outfit, Amigo! :)

Question about Chaparral production, i`ve seen pictures of some 76`s that have charter on the barrel left side in front of the reciever.
My new rifle doesn`t have it and has ( Heritage MFG INC. opa locka. FL. USA Made in Italy.on the right side in gold print.
Mine says Chaparal on top of the barrel and has a four didget serial number.
So what`s the story, is mine the new model being made in Italy and the others are put together by Charter and is Charter out of buisness?

The Chappies were first assembled at Charter arms . After lots of Problems they dropped them . I used to talk to Nick E. at Charter
trying to figure out the problems with the weapons and some of the Early ammo problems . There was a problem that came from a book that said the correct bullet size was a 454 dia. Wrong . But that was a few years ago . One of the the big problems on the 45-60 was the chambers were short .

?? nobody knows ??
I`m guessing then that it was made in Italy and imported to Heritage, would be nice to be able to tell people where your gun is manufactured.

Neat video, Pitchy!

The original and replica versions of both the 73 and the 76 have a different "ka ching" tone to them due I suppose to the difference in the alloys used.  Some years ago, I installed an after market brass carrier in one of my 73.  The carrier had been machined out on the sides to make it lighter weight.  The first time I cycled the action I noted a distinct change in the musical note!  Sounded almost like one of my originals.   :)

Some cowboy action guys are now using aluminum carriers which, to my ear, sound dead!

Cast up a few 300 grainers and loaded some up at 37 grains of 3031 and they seemed to shoot pretty good, 2 inch group at 50 yards leaning on the box of the golf car.
That load doesn`t seem harsh, does anyone have any specs on that load, wish Rowdy would chime in as i think he is shooting 3031

I used 3031 and 35.0 grains is what I remember ? I had all that written down and some how it has been lost . The last time I shot my 76 I was shooting Swiss . I have been working with the 1873 44wcf for the last couple years , so my 76 was taking a break  .
Pitchy where did you start your loads at to work up to 37.0 grains .

I beleave up in the smokeless load forum you stated you were shooting 38.5 grains of 3031.
I started at 35, then 32 now 37 grains.

The imr 3031 at 38.5 grains is working for me . I have used filler in some and it does help the velocity spread .

Sorry but the level of concern for replies is kinda frustrating, i sent ya a pm and another member without answer.
You were here for quite a while after you posted a question to me then left without replying.
I try and do my best to check threads on boards i hang out on and be timely with my replies.
I know there`s something wrong with me and i need to go somewhere else.  ;)
