Comparison of Calibers: 50/95 and 45-75
« on: November 12, 2011, 11:24:30 PM »
Hello Gents & Ladies!

I am curious as to how these calibers stack up against each other in an 1876 lever action rifle with same length barrels. accuracy. I would like to know the velocity and kinetic energy at the 100 yard marker. I have some figures but don't know if they are actuially correct or not. I would like those that know to chime in please. Thank You! ;D

Well so far I have found out that the 50 - 95 caliber is great on the thin skin animals and had 1700-lbs of energy with a 300 grn bullet going 1500 fps at 100 yards. However, many so called experts believe the 45/75 was much better in penetration. This is very important I think when dealilng wilth dangerous critters like grizzly bears. It too was shooting a 300 grn bullet.

I don't have the velocity or kinetic energy of the 45 - 75 caliber loaded up with a 300 grn bullet as of yet!
