Rick very nice gear and yes those are seed beads - the basic sizing sytem for seed beads is: 10/0, 11/0, 12/0, etc. nominally meaning there are 10 beads per inch, 11 per inch, etc. thus the bigger the number the smaller the bead. I say nominal because they tend to vary a fair bit in size.
While seed beads were available and used pre-1850, it wasn't until after 1850 that they became more popular and eventually most tribes quit using the slightly larger 8/0 size pound beads (also known as pony beads) except in rare cases. The smaller sized sead beads allowed the beader to create more complex patterns, which increased in popularity after 1870 and onward through until today.
