Smith carbine and 1851 for sale
« on: September 13, 2009, 12:34:46 pm »
Posted this on the Spencer Shooting Society Forum.  I had major shoulder re-construction in January, but it fell apart.

Well, the news from the orthopedic is not good. The shoulder is going to need some bone graphs, nylon re-enforcements and a long, slow rehab.  Not saying the first surgeon botched it, but... The first shoulder won't be until November 18th He also will be doing the left shoulder when the right is as good as it will get.  Not saying 58 is old, but my days of sleeping in a dog tent and "taking hits" and falling down are pretty much over.  Missed Jerseyville because I was on vicodin.

Realistically speaking any shooting, (and re-enacting) will be out for more than a year.  So I am selling my Smith and 1851 Navy. No sense sitting in the safe, if I am not likely to use them again. If I do feel able to get back into it, I will scrape up enough for a Spencer then, but I will cross that bridge when I come to it.

It is an artillery model (which all original Smiths were until sometime in 1863). It is in absolutely excellent condition, bore pristine, Enfield sling, about 150 + rubber cartridges, Smith 30 round loading block and nylon blank compression dowel and about 500 musket caps for $675 ($200 less than DGW for weapon alone) +$25 shipping.  No FFL needed.

1851 is a Pietta .44, VG to excellent condition except front sight bead fell out.  $125 +$10 priority mail.

TL,  Sorry to hear of your malady. Be assured that the GAF Chaplains' Staff shall be in prayer for your complete recovery and that much quicker than you or your Doctors can imagine. Our God is not only a healer of souls but also of bodies and He doesn't "practice" medicine, He invented it.

I have a Smith I'm willing to part with.  Fired in one match.  Have a few cartridge cases, and about 100 bullets.  PM me if interested, anybody.
