I have a very old, single shot, breech load...more than likely Black Powder Shotgun.  This appears to be a former smooth bore musket because there is a ramrod hole in the front of the stock.

The story I got on it was...this is a French Trade Shotgun.  These were manufactured, then taken to Africa and traded to the natives for ivory.  It's 12 gauge and I have never fired it.  The only markings on it is "ZULU" stamped on the top of the barrel about 5 inches forward of the breech.  There are no other markings or serial numbers anywhere.

I am wondering what this old fire stick is worth to the collector because I'm fixing to sell it.  I am also wondering where I can advertise this to get the best price?

Any assistance, or information you can give me on this old shotgun will be greatly appreciated.  I will also accept offers on it from anyone here.

Thanks!

Snider type conversion done in Belgum on a French smooth bore musket.  Sold all over the world in the 1870's to 1890's, cheap.  Ten years ago they were worth $35-50 today maybe $100.  Not really safe to shoot even with black powder.  Knew a guy that blew one up with black.I have one thats been in the family fer well over a 100 years.  Ain't worth much to anyone but me.

About the least expensive breech loading shotgun in the 19th century and very common.

Thank you for this information.  I will advertise it with "best offer over $125.00...will haggle".  Will hold the non shootable part until I get a bite on it.
