Department of the Atlantic Reorganization and Appointments

The Department is being reorganized to improve recruitment and increase local activity. To accomplish this the Department is divided into three geographical areas. These areas are designated the Northern District, Central District and Southern District . Each will be under the command of a Lt. Colonel who inturn reports to the Department Commander.

The Northern District consists of the states of:  ME, MA, NH, VT, NY, RI, and CT. The Commander for the District is Bvt Lt Col Artificer Ray (Raymond W. LeMay III). 

The Central District consists of the states of: NY, NY, MI, IN OH, PA, NJ, KY, WV, MD, DE, and VA. The District Commander’s position is currently open.

The Southern District consists of the states of: TN, NC, MS, AL, GA, and FL. The Commander for the District is Bvt Lt Col Zouave Officer (Kenneth H. Robison II).

The Districts are responsible for:

1. Recruiting members
2. Maintaining communications within the District
3. Establishing working relationships with other organizations within the District (CAS clubs, reenacting groups, historical societies, etc.)
4. Planning organizing, and coordinating District events (musters, matches, reenactments, etc.)
5. Organizing one or more color guards for use when and where needed.
6. Encouraging participation in GAF events (musters, postal matches, etc.)
7. Supporting other activities as determined by the Department Commander and/or Commander GAF.

A District will not be further subdivided without the approval of the Department Commander.

A District may establish a web site for its own internal use.

I encourage all members of the Department of the Atlantic to work together in this new organization to improve not only their own District but the Department and the GAF. Please give your support to the new District Commanders.
