NEVER think a real Colt today is superior to a Uberti !,,,I cycled a brand NEW nickle SAA today the gun shop recieved,,,JESUS IN A CANOE ! felt like sandpaper that was comming apart...or a old timey washing machine .....
Absolutly terrible compared to my Cimarron OT's....

MD,
Try a 2nd Gen Colt SAA and I think you'll see a difference. I tend to agree with you with the modern/new SAA's.
I love my 2 2nd Gen. Colt Navies that are SMOOOTH and all I did to the action was lighten the main spring and barely stoned the action because that's all they needed. I have had a couple Uberti's and other MFg's that have been as smooth ....after an action job.

The 'grim' lookin' owner had just paid for it, handed it to me , and said look'er over,,,,everyone else had cycled bolt bucket, so I though I would too....
I think at that point he just didn't want it in HIS hands....

If it's new - it's got a Lifetime Warranty.
The customer needs to call Colt - 1-800-962-COLT - and they'll tell him what he needs to do.
He can ship directly to the factory via FEDEX and any shipping charges are reimbursed.

When done - they'll ship to his residence.
I've handled a number of the new Colts - every one felt crisp and the finish was perfect, which is understandable, given that they're Custom Shop guns.
The only 'problem' guns were the first of the Third Generation guns - built when Colt had sold to the United Auto Workers in the 1980's.
Could be he's used to music wire springs - they don't 'load' like flat ones...

Sell it! Return it! and get a real (though unauthentic to the old west) but fine working Ruger revolver!
Can't go wrong with a Ruger!
