A challenge
« on: August 14, 2007, 09:54:34 am »
I don't know how many of you realize it but the GAF is approaching a milestone for our organization. We are nearing 500 members. While this is a pretty small number for a world wide organization, it is still a number that we weren't sure we'd ever meet just a few years ago. We've grown to a point where it isn't nearly as uncommon for someone to have heard of us. We're providing honor guards and flag ceremonies. We hold our own National shoot with a unique format and we've held several department level "mini-musters". We're making an impact in the CAS community.
My challenge is that each one of us go out and try to recruit just one new member, try to be the one that recruits "Number 500".  And remember, if you recruit 10 members you are eligiable for the Star of Merit. Recruiting isn't that difficult, if you enjoy the GAF tell your pards about it. When you wear a uniform to a shoot it gives you a perfect oppertunity to tell people about the GAF, they always want to know about your uniform. I'm nearing a second SoM for recruiting, so if I can recruit members, anybody can. ;D Just get out there and tell someone about our unique organization.

Pitspitr makes some excellent points - and appears to be an outstanding recruiter!  I've really seen an increase in enlistments this last month or so.

Well done to all those who have spread the word about the GAF and enlisted a few more to our ranks.

Right now we don't have a mechanism in place to monitor how many you enlist - you have to keep track of that yourself.  But once you meet the number required for a SoM, just let us know.

Howdy!

It so happens that I've got those last two:

Tony Hollandsworth, aka "Will Munny" (#499?)

and Dave Hollandsworth, aka "Jed Cooper" (#500?)

I'll go to the official form on the website and do it properly, but perhaps this'll do until I get their information.

And I'll have another as well, as soon as I get his alias settled.

Pitspitr, Sir!

I just submitted their enlistment requests (2 of 3) while you were blowing up the balloons and getting cups for the Grog.  Tony's information is incomplete, but I'll pass it on ASAP.

Hooowaahhh!

May I have a second cup, please?  I have no duties until tomorrow's Guard Mount!

And I've received them!

Since this is a major milestone in the GAF, I'll post their names later today to make it official.

Well done Steel Horse!

Now, enough time resting on our laurels - lets get out and recruit another 500!

Time to reserect an old thread, except this time we're nearing 600! This was made possible by the excellent article Pony Racer Soldier provided for The Cowboy Chronicle.

I don't want to sound like I'm bragging or anything, but you are confusing Pony Racer with me.  I'm am just glad so many people liked the article enough to want to enlist.  I also like to just hand out the new brochure to any and everybody.  I think the boys did a bang up job on it.

Pony Racer is recruiting new members one baby at a time. ;D I imagine he'll stop when he gets near 50 too. New members, that is. ;)
