Leo, I've already had my 40th HS reunion(3 yrs ago) and in 2 more years I'll have my 40th College reunion. I'm wondering what happened to the 70s, 80s, and the 90's. Next year I'll eligible for SS. If I'd known that I was gonna live this long, I would have taken better care of myself.

My 20th reunion is commin up.  Hard ta baleive.
I remeber just about everything from the 80's an 90's but I have ta say it mostly sucked.  Music was bad, everyone was afeard a diseases and nuke wars.  Now when me an my old buddies get tagether an recount things, we have some great stories that the wifes just love.  I guess we had some great times, we just didn't know it then.  Heck, we were board ta tears at the time.

Del, It will be here before you know it.  After I turned 50, it seemed like the next 10 years past in a short time.

Well I guess I can merge the recent conversation with the thread.  This don fit us all, but came ta me as right song ta sing fer everyone here one way or the other :D

So you're a little bit older and a lot less bolder
Than you used to be
So you used to shake 'em down
But now you stop and think about your dignity
So now sweet sixteens turned thirty-one
You get to feelin' weary when the work days done
Well all you got to do is get
up and into your kicks
If you're in a fix
Come back baby
Rock and roll never forgets
You better get yourself a partner
Go down to the concert or the local bar
Check the local newspapers
Chances are you won't have to go too far
Yeah the rafters will be ringing
cause the beat's so strong
The crowd will be swaying and singing along
And all you got to do is get in into the mix
If you need a fix
Come back baby
Rock and roll never forgets
Oh the bands still playing it loud and lean
Listen to the guitar player making it scream
All you got to do is just make that scene tonight
Heh tonight

Well now sweet sixteens turned thirty-one
Feel a little tired feeling under the gun
Well all Chuck's children are out
there playing his licks
Get into your kicks
Come back baby
Rock 'n Roll never forgets
Said you can come back baby
Rock 'n Roll never forgets

My 40th is coming up in 09,

I've got 2 or 3 of those people I'd like to see, a few don't matter and at least 2 who's gone on, that will be missed, one of the best friends I had in High School was killed by lightning in 1990,I think,   he was getting ready to ship out for Dessert Storm, was at a going away party at the lake.  The people that I talked to at the funeral said they never even heard it thunder, just kinda came outa the sky all at once.

Ya know OT, the way I like ta think of incidents like that is like what The Bible says about the Rapture.  Folks too good ta see all the bad that's comin get grabbed right up inta the sky.
I hesitated on posting this, but if he was your best friend, I'm sure you'll understand my intention.  Musta been the best of the best.

My 40th next year too.

Was fairly rude to the woman who called me ‘bout the 10th. Stuck up l’il b*tch in school.

Never went to a reunion. Ain’t heard from ‘em in years. Reckon I’ve been dropped from the list.

I've always gone along with that "only the good die young"  theory,   course if that's true, I may live to 140 :o :o

I always think about Jim,  Jim Wisdom was his name when I hear Sprit in the Sky,  they played that one at the services.

I think he would'a liked it,  as a matter of fact  I know he would'a liked it  ;D

I'm a reunion reject too :D
Never even been notified.  Lil's been wantin me ta look inta the 20th, but can't get her ta understand that I didn't care fer the ones I don't talk to on the phone an visit with.  My best friend to this day I met on the 2nd day of 7th grade.  Talk ta him regular, and have occasional contact with others.  She's almost convinced me ta do it over the past few months but I always give it quick thought an think, "the rest of em can kiss my a** :o "  Best reunion I went ta was the 7th grade guys weding last September.  That was a blast!

Now, some Norman Greenbaum fer OT

When I die and they lay me to rest
Gonna go to the place that's the best
When I lay me down to die
Goin' up to the spirit in the sky
Goin' up to the spirit in the sky
That's where I'm gonna go when I die
When I die and they lay me to rest
Gonna go to the place that's the best

Prepare yourself you know it's a must
Gotta have a friend in Jesus
So you know that when you die
He's gonna recommend you
To the spirit in the sky
Gonna recommend you
To the spirit in the sky
That's where you're gonna go when you die
When you die and they lay you to rest
You're gonna go to the place that's the best

Never been a sinner I never sinned
I got a friend in Jesus
So you know that when I die
He's gonna set me up with
The spirit in the sky
Oh set me up with the spirit in the sky
That's where I'm gonna go when I die
When I die and they lay me to rest
I'm gonna go to the place that's the best
Go to the place that's the best

They had my 10 year reunion at the Country Club which is located in the county.  My dad had been elected Sheriff in 1970.  The folks got drunk and wound up in his jail. He called on Sunday morning to tell me. We both got a big laugh about it. I really missed the opportunity to be there and put them in jail. I had already left the Panhandle and was an officer in the Dallas area.

My 10th was held at a local hotel and a large "Reunion Company" was hired to track us all down.  They wanted a few hundred dollars for a person to have the "privilege" of attending.  I guess there's no need to tell y'all whether I went or not.

My 20th will be in 2011. ;D

Brings to mind an old scene from Taxi. The l’il short fart wanted to go but he didn’t wanna be laughed at. He sent the actor instead. He runs into a school snob ‘n asked what he did.

I’m a waiter at the country club.

A waiter?

The snob goes on…… Yes. I make thirty thousand but I get well over a hundred thousand a year in tips I don’t report. What do you do?

I’m an auditor for the IRS.

The snob passes out.

I almost wet my drawers ‘n sprayed beer all o’er the den.

I didn't have much in common with those folks anyway. I live about 400 miles from my hometown and really don't have any reasons to go back. I keep in touch with some guys that I went to college with.
