Well, found lots of posts about what caps work with certain aftermarket nipples, but nothing on what works best with an off the shelf Colt 2nd Gen Navy. Here's hoping that someone has an answer.

I just got a pair of 2nd Gen "C" series 1851 Navies, they use #10 CCI's #11 are way too big.

Well, I have tried CCI #10, RWS No 1075 plus and Remington #10. All of them fall right off on my 2nd Gen Navy.

I have order treso nipples, but since the crown at Thunder Ridge is out for the week, I doubt that they will arrive prior to my Match on June 30.

So, guess I will need to try to pinch them unless any of my pards here have a better idea.

PS: The remington #10's seem to fit very well on my Pietta Navy

I've used RWS Green label on my 1860's and RWS Red Labels on my Navy's all are 2nd Gens's..
I used these in Pommel Holsters in Mounted CW reenacting, They have not jiggled off.

The maker of the 2nd gen Colt is Uberti, most likely the nipples are Uberti, and good as Uberti is, their nipples are very inconsistant.  The cap they will fit varies from gun to gun and chamber to chamber.  If you have other Ubertis to steal nipples from, gather together a set of six that will fit SOME size/brand of cap and use it until your Treso nipples arrive.

Factory nipples are definitely inconsistant.  Very true.  I was using #10 CCI this weekend.  Some fit, some had to be slightly squeezed before putting on.  This varied with both revolvers.  Need some Tresos.  Hope the supply picks up soon.
