If the percussion cylinder fits, so would the conversion.......

Won't fit without lots of work.
The Bolts are totally different and in different places.
Starr's Bolt notches look like this (). Bolt is intregal with the trigger.
Remy's look like this [] .

Remy's are on the right side of the frame and the Starr is in the middle.

R & D may make one special conversion for your Starr. Call and ask.

Well,I went with the Remy conversion (Pietta) 1858 New Army .44 cal to R&D cylinder "drop-in" at first it didn't want to go in so....I oiled the cylinder pin & the cylinder,I had to tap the cylinder pin a little at first but now it does "drop-in" and works real good. This is the first time I have tried this kind of thing and I really like the fact I can go from Cap&Ball to a .45LC then back to the Cap&Ball gun, very slick, indeed! Dusty.

Dusty,

So the Remmi conversion worked in the Starr then?  Very interesting!

So how do you resolve the cylinder locking notch location if the Starr bolt is in the middle, the chamber won't align with the barrel?

Sorry to mislead everyone! Halfway Creek Charlie has it right,I passed on trying to make that work(starr revolver) I purchased a R&D cylinder for the Remy and it did "drop-in" the cylinder fits tight on the cylinder pin but the cylinder is a good fit and works better each time I remove and install it.Again, sorry to mislead some of you guys, thats not what I had in mind here. Dusty.

Dusty,
If you polish the cylinder pin a bit (mirror finish will do...LOL) Shiny is a good thing, and lube the bejeebers out of it it'll work great.  Do not use any petroleum based lubes as they interact with the BP and make hard fouling and do it quickly. Use Bore Butter, it works great and is made from edible ingredients, not that we'd ever eat it, but you can. I lube the pawl area also.
I use only Olive Oil for lube in the internals. The cheap Virgin stuff from the dollar store works great and comes in a bottle small enough to put in your shooting bag.

Halfway Creek Charlie , I did what you said to do and polished the cylinder pin(just the area inside the frame where the pin goes into the cylinder)down to the metal(took off the blue finish) and this did the trick, cylinder pin goes in the R&D cylinder easy now,Thanks,Dusty.

That sounds good. I usually take the blue off from the wing back.(no one can see it when the gun is together and who cares if they do see it, if it makes my Remy hum better. Just keep her lubed up.

You will naturally get a fire ring around the pin at the front of the cylinder just keep that polished down and you should be fine. it's the hot gas and  Bp that cuts that ring in the pin.  Every time Ii clean my guns I look at the pin and polish over that ring. I have found that after awhile the fire doesn't do any more damage. Maybe because it has forced the bp and gas into the ring and that helps keep it from going deeper. I have several originals and the ring is just so deep on them all.
