Spanish Old Pictures
« on: December 08, 2006, 02:16:29 PM »
 Hello comrades:

I want to put here old pictures of the Spanish Army of the period 1860-1920, more or less.
I don´t know how to put the image into the text, for this reason I put them like anex.Sorry.

In these two images you can see a Second Soldier, Sapper. His rifle is a Remington, (11 mm caliber) and in his belt he has a "bota". The "bota" is a tipycal spanish container for the wine. It´s made of leather and it was a regulation piece of the spanish equipment in those years.

You can see also a First Corporal, Sapper too. He has a Remington too. In his feets, you can see "alpargatas". The "alpargatas" were made of canvas and the sole was made of esparto grass. This type of footwear was in use in the Spanish Army till 1940, more or less. You can see pictures of the Spanish Legion with this footwear in our Civil  War, 1936-1939.

I don't want to tire you more. Another day, I will continue with more pictures.

I hope you like them. And excuse for my bad english.

Spanish Marshall -- your English is better than many American high school aged kids!  ;D

The pictures are very cool and thank you for sharing them with us and explaining what they are wearing.

I love those rolling blocks.

Good-looking men, they carry themselves well. Their uniforms, accoutrements and equipment look well-made and serviceable. Let's see more like this!
