A little-known bit of trivia:
The actual name of the original Marine recuiting site was "Meg Mullins" Beefsteak House", located on Tun Alley, Philadelphia.  More commonly know as "Tun Tavern"

I had the pleasure of visiting the NEW "Tun Tavern" this weekend.

The National Marine Corps Museum opened at Quantico, VA this weekend.  I went to the dedication on Friday, Nov 10, and to a pre-opening preview of the Museum on Saturday, Nov 11.  I'm a member fo the Marine Corps Historical Foundation, which is how I was able to do this.

Inside the Museum is "Tun Tavern" where museum visitors can take a break, have a snack and a beer (yes, BEER!) before resuming their tour.  My preview group was the last of the day, so the tavern was closing before we could take advantage of it, but I intend to rectify that in another visit in the near future.  The museum is pretty large and we weren't able to fully see everything in our two hour window.  However, the Tavern looked pretty neat (not too dissimilar to the taverns in Colonial Williamsburg), and I'm looking forward to enjoying it on my next and extended visit.
