I used to own one , it was a North improved carbine model, the last of the breech locking designs circa 1842, used it for SIW and Tex Mex reenacting.
I carried it in N&S part 1 with Swayze & Reed in the battle at the bridge sequences,
in fact it was only one in the movie... but it saw no special attention. I also had a Asa Waters Martial pistol in a pommel holster.
There was talk at the time that someone was going to reproduce them (he was an American smith I recall); a prototype or two were made, but the cost was prohibitive and the idea dried up.
Oh and mine is still around, belongs to a friend of mine, We traded and I got a sweet orginial 1859 Sharps in the deal.
As a side note, the Halls Rifle first appeared as a Flintlock breach loader and later around '33 , the Carbine was only produced as a cap lock
