John Wayne in Rio Bravo (his gunbelt)

A lot of people comment questioning John Wayne carrying a long 45-70 cartridge in his belt.  The usual answer to this is that it's a homage to the Cavalry Troopers and an tactic used to tell a trooper (or anybody really) that they're running low on spare ammo when they feel that cartridge and Wayne was practicing this image in his movies.

Well....the other night I noticed in Rio Bravo he was carrying not one but TWO of these cartridges on both sides of his gunbelt.
